CLEAN AND WELL MAINTAINED To legions of BMW enthusiasts, the Paul
Bracq-designed E24 6-Series coupe remains one of companys finest
designs. It also carries an American connection, with the new E24
design championed by legendary auto executive Bob Lutz, who penned
a number of sketches in reply to initial design proposals tabled at
BMW. Launched at Geneva in March 1976, the new 6-Series cars
entered production that same month. Relentless development and
constant improvement allowed production to continue until April 6,
1989. All surviving examples of the E24 6-Series are prized today.
The definitive model is the 3.5-liter 635 CSi, produced beginning
in 1978. Cutting-edge technology included Bosch digital engine
management and fuel injection. From 1982s unofficially named Second
Series, the Karmann-built bodies sported revised front and rear
treatments. ABS brakes were now standard, and a new 3,430 cc engine
borrowed from the 7-Series model line resulted in the ultimate
635CSi. Another example of the flagship status of the E24 6-Series
was BMWs new check control' test panel, which monitored the status
of the engine oil level, brake fluid level, brake lights,
taillights, brake pad wear and coolant and windshield-washer
levels. Featuring a more-powerful 218 HP engine specification, this
original European 635CSi was imported to New York in May 1986. As
offered, it remains virtually immaculate throughout, having
benefited from the prior ownership and care of a private
Chicago-area collector, including a color change to the present
Midnight Blue. The interior is exceptionally well preserved and
features Maroon leather upholstery and supportive articulated sport
seats, plus a floor-shifted 3-speed automatic transmission and
power locks, windows, brakes and steering. In addition to full
professional detailing, this high-quality 1986 BMW 635CSi rides on
a recently fitted set of factory BMW 16-inch wheels for a great
look. In short, this 1986 BMW 635 CSi is worthy of serious
consideration by knowledgeable collectors and enthusiasts. Call us
to see it for yourself and take it home today!
