Vehicle Description
This 1972 Comet has about 69,000 miles on its 302 V8 engine and C4
automatic transmission. When the current owner found this car about
3 years ago he was convinced it was a low mileage car. It had faded
paint but a very straight body. The things leading him to believe
it to be a low milage car are: the spare was a bias ply tire in the
style of the seventies and the assembly inspection sticker was
clear on the firewall. There was California Highway Patrol
inspection sticker on the passenger side windshield expiring in
1974. He remembers the joke they told in the seventies: Murphy's
Law says the later you were for work the more apt you were to
encounter one of the random inspections. After you got a sticker at
future inspection stops they would wave you thru. The factory
interior is in the car with little wear to the seats, headliner and
carpet. There are 2 small tears in the headliner about the size of
the palm of your hand. It was running rough so he replaced the
plugs and had the 2 barrel carburetor professionally rebuilt and
now it runs excellent. The factory AM radio is working fine so it
remains in the car. The current owner had the front suspension
rebuilt and the rear leaf springs re-arc'd. The car was in a minor
front end collision and repair had been started using a hood,
grille and bumper from a Maverick, a cleaner look. He completed the
repair and had the car painted the factory color, Light Blue. Next
he had the bumpers re-plated and repaired the factory air. It was
necessary to replace the condenser, dryer and vacuum canister. The
compressor and hoses were useable and it is blowing. Please Note
