This 1978 Oldsmobile Cutlass Salon Brougham has a distinct style,
well-coordinated color-combo, A/C interior, and V8 power. And not
only is the value price attractive, but so is the rare five-speed
manual transmission.
The Cutlass Salon was only available for a brief few years. We
weren't quite ready for GM to deliver this kind of fastback
roofline in our sedans when this first appeared on the scene in
1978. So GM canceled the program early. That makes them a true
rarity today, and so it's great to have such a well-presented
example. The factory-correct silver has a nice gloss and shine. All
the brightwork, including the big chrome bumpers, has a nice shine
that complements the deeper silver color. And the details are
great, from the urethane panels bridging the bumper gaps, to the
factory-correct wheel covers. Plus, this premium Brougham has a
deep red rub strip that looks like a pinstripe, and it looks so
distinctive against the silver.
That hint of deep red on the outside is also a nice preview of the
full burgundy interior. Everything inside is highly original and
its well-preserved appearance make us believe that the low odometer
may reflect actual mileage. The comfy velour has a great button-top
pattern on all the seating, and the extra glass of this fastback
style gives this an airy cabin you don't get in many classics. And
so if you were thinking this was a great car to share with family
and friends, then the air conditioning upgraded to cold-blowing
R134a will keep them all comfy. The full package is a great
classic-style presentation, right down to the working AM radio. But
this is also built for driver fun. That's why you have features
like the high-back bucket seat and the rarely-seen floor
shifter.
Open the hood to see a very honest and original engine bay. The 260
cubic-inch V8 is believed to be original to the car, and the whole
package looks like the right mix of preservation and proper
maintenance. That's why this once fires up nicely and runs
smoothly. The five-speed manual transmission is both an ultra-rare
feature and your key to fully enjoying this classic Olds. You'll
love rowing thought the gears to get the most out of the motor.
Plus, power steering and power brakes w/discs up front make this an
easy choice for your anytime classic.
The sale comes with the owner's manual, sales brochure, and
maintenance records. We know you're intrigued about this one, so
act quickly, because you many never find another stick-shift
fastback Olds sedan again. Call today!!!
