Cincy Classic Cars is proud to offer this 1979 Factory Y84 Special Edition WS6 Trans AM which is in restored condition and priced to sell. This PHS documented Y84 Trans Am is 1 of 9874 ever built in its original configuration with a 403 Engine and Automatic transmission. The original 403 engine remains in the car and the vin on the engine block is numbers matching. This special edition TA is loaded with factory options like: T Tops, power windows, AC, deluxe interior, cruise control, tilt wheel, WS6 suspension, 4 wheel disc brakes, and the very sought after SE package. This special TA features a nice repaint in factory Starlight Black with replacement decals and pin stripping, a restored stock interior, the original 403 engine, and PHS documents. This Trans Am was sold out of South Carolina and has remained a southern car until recently and has no visible rust anywhere and is very solid with great lines and gaps. The underside is extremely solid with no rust or corrosion issues and no patches or repairs. This Trans Am is finished in the most beautiful and most desirable color combinations of Starlight Black (code 19) over Black Deluxe (code 19B) cloth interior. This is the factory color scheme as verified on the trim tag pictured below and included PHS documents. These special low production SE Trans Am's are some of the most sought after collectible TA's on the market. They continue to increase in value and desirability.
Exterior
The Starlight Black exterior is in nice restored condition. This Trans Am was treated to a repaint some years ago in factory Starlight Black with replacement decals and pin stripping. The paint is in great condition with no signs of visible rust anywhere on the body or underneath and both bumpers are in great shape with no flaking or faded paint. There is no bubbling paint or any cracked paint anywhere on the body of this car and no evidence of repaired areas. New front bumper grills were added and a new nose emblem. There may be some minor imperfections that are not noticeable in the photos, but nothing was intentionally excluded from the photos. The BF Goodrich tires are like new with nearly full tread left and are sized 255/60/15 and the 8" snowflake OEM wheels are restored originals and come with newer center caps and lug nuts. All weather stripping and window sweeps are newer and in excellent condition. Door seals, t top seals, trunk seal, and window sweeps are newer. Trunk is very solid and clean with the original style trunk mat and newer speakers.
Interior
The Black deluxe cloth interior of this Trans Am has been restored to stock and is in terrific overall condition. The seat covers are in good condition with no major wear or fading or seam splits. The carpet was replaced with no major stains, rips, or holes. The dash is in good overall condition but does have a dash pad cover. The dash bezel is correct and was restored by Randy Combs and looks beautiful in the car. The cost alone for that service is $250.00. The original style stereo works great and sounds good with newer 6x9 speakers. The door panels have been replaced and are in like new condition and both new door pulls are solid and in tact. The headliner and package tray have also been replaced and both are in great condition. The headliner is the correct perforated material and is not sagging at all. All interior and exterior lights and gauges work as they should including the clock and turn signal indicators. The headlights were recently replaced. The horn, all gauges, stereo, wipers, and blower motor all work. This car has not been smoked in; there is no aroma what so ever. The factory ac is all there but currently does not blow cold.
Mechanical
This Trans Am is in great mechanical condition and the original 403 engine is still in the car with matching vin number, see photo. This engine runs very well and has great power and even chirps the tires going into second gear under load. Dual flowmaster mufflers were installed and gives this TA and true muscle car sound at idle and cruising speeds. The suspension was upgraded with new shocks and new end links. New valve cover gaskets were just installed. A new battery was just installed as well. We have driven this car numerous times and it always performs well, it does not run hot, it rides tight, and is always a joy to drive. In the video one can observe this car running and driving with no excessive rattles or noises, and the car handles and performs well. This Trans Am is a nice driver that feels good on the road and at highway speeds. There is no smoke when starting or driving the car. It starts right away every time, idles well, and runs good. The 4 wheel disk brakes do not pull and stop as they should. Also, the engine is very clean and nicely detailed as one can see from the photos. This is a factory AC car and all the components are still in place but currently it does not blow cold air.
