Another key factor which makes this car an absolute jewel is the previous ownership by the well known former race driver, Bruce Leven! As a driver, Bruce surrounded himself with international stars who contributed to the success of his privately held Bayside Disposal Racing team, including victories at Sebring in 1981,1987 and 1988. Those drivers included Peter Gregg, Hurley Haywood, Al Holbert, Scott Pruett, Hans Stuck, and Bob Wolleck, who competed in the IMSA GT Series in Porsche 935's and 962's. Leven's best season in racing was 1987, when his team earned six wins, with drivers Jochen Mass and Bobby Rahal finishing third and fifth in the IMSA Championship. Three time Le Mans winner Klaus Ludwig also contributed with a solo win of his own! By the way, Bruce's name is still on the title!
In 2004, a new owner took on the task of restoring this beauty to the highest of standards! The restoration started with the mechanical components, which were highlighted by a split case, motor rebuild completed in 2006. The car also received a full transmission overhaul, new clutch and a complete new suspension. The cosmetic restoration followed right after and the total bill just for the parts alone, which does not include the labor and the paint job, total a staggering $25,000! There is a folder full of receipts for all of these parts.
In more recent years, the car was updated with the following maintenance/mods:
New Dunlop Tires.
Replaced all shift linkage bushings.
New OEM Factory Dashboard.
Installed Carrera RS Door Panels.
New BT Stereo and front speakers.
Rennline Dash Knobs.
Carrera Script Floor Mats.
Momo Prototypo Steering Wheel.
Euro Spec Headlights and Trim.
The car comes with these stock parts:
Original Steering Wheel.
Original Door Panels.
Original AM/FM Radio.
Original US Spec Headlights.
