Vehicle Description
This concours-restored 1961 Chevrolet Impala SS bubble top has 14
miles since its refurbishment was completed. It is powered by a
409ci V8 engine, topped with a 4-barrel carburetor, aluminum intake
manifold and a dual-snorkel air cleaner. The power plant is mated
to a 4-speed manual transmission. It features the carburetor,
intake, exhaust manifolds and distributor, which are all dated from
1961. The exterior is finished in Sea Mist Turquoise with a
two-tone turquoise interior. The interior features split front
bench seats, Impala trim, 7,000 rpm Sun tachometer, fuel and water
gauges, in-dash clock, passenger grab handle and the original
floor-mounted shifter with console plate. It has spinner wheel
covers with whitewall tires. The 1961 full-size Chevrolets were all
new and featured a 111-inch wheelbase chassis, revised powertrains
and a new performance-oriented Impala SS model. At the top of the
powertrain offerings was the new 409 W-series Chevrolet V8 engine
that featured a 4.3125-inch bore and a 3.5-inch stroke with an
11.25.1 compression ratio. It developed a factory-rated 360hp at
5800rpm and 142 cars received this engine in 1961.
