For sale is this really fine 3 owner 1970 Chevelle Super Sport. This California built vehicle was purchased originally April 8, 1970 by a couple in Clarmont, Ca from College Chevrolet. In April of 2001 it was given to the couple’s nephew Mr. Ed Goin who lived in Virginia. In 2004 Jimmy Jones of Brandon, MS bought the car from Mr. Goin. Jimmy did a ground up restoration on the car. The car was painted at that time and the interior replaced. Jimmy bought the car as his wife had had a new 1970 SS like this one but the interior was red. Jimmy replaced the black vinyl interior with red. The engine was pulled so that the engine compartment could be detailed. Jimmy at that time had found a second engine that came from another 396CI/350HP engine 1970 Chevelle SS. That engine was rebuilt to a high standard and is the engine that is in the car now. The original engine which was running fine is part of the purchase. During the ground up restoration Jimmy did the following to the car (among other things);
*The car was painted using the finest DuPont base coat clear coat products
*A complete new interior was installed; new seat covers with new cushions, new dash pad, new door panels, new carpet and new headliner.
*The transmission was pulled and was resealed with new gaskets and seals and new fluid.
*The rear end was inspected and new rear bearings installed along with one new axel and all the seals.
*A complete new wiring harness was installed, front to rear.
*The power brake booster was sent off for re-anodizing
*New brakes were installed front and rear.
*New rear bumper (the front is original)
*Several new ‘T3’ original type headlights (some are still the originals)
*Air conditioner rebuilt
*A correct numbered alternator from John Perkins installed
*Radiator is new
*Gardner Exhaust (known for exact reproductions, installed)
*All new weather stripping
In March of 2016 Jimmy sold the Chevelle to Dr Lewis Grubbs of Madison, Ms. Dr Grubbs is the current owner and we are helping him sell the car.
The car also comes with a NOS (new old stock) operable cowl induction hood painted to match.
$55000 OBO Jimmy Jones @ 601-927-8415 and Mike Martin (601-906-1196) represent Dr Grubbs in selling this vehicle. Mr Jones is the prior owner and did the restoration on the vehicle. He is best called with questions relating to those areas. Mr Martin can be called for other questions. The car is available for inspection and driving in Madison, Ms (just N of Jackson, Ms at the intersection of I20 and I55). Any interested parties are invited to call. This car has not been driven more than 500 miles since the restoration took place.
