Vehicle Description
Performance, luxury, and a truly unique presentation: we already
know why you're attracted to this 1966 Oldsmobile Starfire. After
all, with the correct high-compression 425ci V8 under the hood and
loaded A/C interior, it's more than just a sleek red machine with a
premium look.
The Starfire's original mission was to be Oldsmobile's large
personal luxury coupe, but with more cubic inches under the hood
than even a 442, it cannot help but be a little boastful. That's
why it's great to see an investment in the glossy red paint that
really pops in the sunlight thanks to a modern clearcoat
application. Plus, the dual white stripe package looks great on
this well-creased sheetmetal. In fact, this Starfire really has a
nice sporty feeling with the hallmark silver streaks moved to side
like racing stripes, and they even upgraded the wheels to polished
Cragar SS units. But more than just the upgrades, this Starfire
nicely retains its vintage pieces to showcase its premium
personality. The wraparound chrome bumpers cleanly integrate into
the extra wide front and rear panels; the hardtop design has a
sporty silhouette; and sheetmetal has a sporty kick-up integrated
into the rear fender. This is '60s styling at its best, and you see
it perfectly in a coupe where the hood lines up nicely and the
doors shut with authority. It's a well-respected classic, that's
why its second owner cared for it for over three decades!
Premium Oldsmobiles had a great dual luxury and performance spirit
that is represented quite nicely here. After all, bucket seats and
a center console instantly remind you this is a personal luxury
coupe. The color and pattern on the parchment seats nicely match
the door panels and headliner. But the carpeting and dash are black
so you don't have to worry about dusting off your shoes before
entering. This is a full-size coupe, so there's plenty of room for
family and friends, and even the AM/FM radio is working properly to
keep them entertained. But the best treats are reserved for the
driver. The original steering wheel now has a red and black wrap to
match the dash and exterior paint. Beyond that is the factory full
gauge package, including the speedometer set in the deep "V". And
just ahead of the gearshift on the center console is a cool factory
tach. But the feature you'll love the most are the power windows.
That way you can roll down all the glass without ever having to
leave the driver's seat. So it's easy to show off the great
pillarless hardtop profile. And the factory air conditioning means
you can stay cool while doing it, too.
Under the hood is the 425 cubic-inch V8 that shows all the right
signs of being original to the car. The Starfire motor has the same
reputation and similar makeup to the rest of the famous Rocket big
block line. This high-compression V8 produced some of the best
power of the era, and it still is a force to be reckoned with today
thanks to an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor. And everyone will
know that this big coupe has big power every time they hear the
rumble of the dual exhaust. But what you really want to know is how
this one glides down the road like a true big block luxury car
should. Features like the three-speed automatic transmission, power
steering, and the grip of BF Goodrich radial tires give this a true
'60s cruiser feeling. The power brakes even recently had an upgrade
to discs up front for superior stopping power!
The sale comes with terrific paperwork, including the factory
buildsheet, original warranty card, window sticker, owner's manual,
and maintenance records. It's a truly fantastic coupe that people
rarely see on the vintage car scene today. So if you love
distinction, power, and luxury, call today!
