The Third Generation Of The Ford Thunderbird Is a personal luxury car produced by Ford for the 1961 To 1963 model years. It featured a much sleeker styling than the second-generation models.

The jet age is in full swing; the country is riding high on Beatle mania, towering beehive hair doo's, fur boots, and getting to the moon before the end of the decade. To mirror these times Ford Motor Company put elements of design into the Thunderbird for 1962. The“Bullet Bird”, to which it was commonly referred, has a very elegant design ending with taillight housings which were to remind the
viewer of turbines or rocket engines.

Body & Paint: The body on the Thunderbird is in very good condition with all of the body panels being straight and just a few small dings on the body.  The paint is a Classic Raven Black finish that looks very good on this American classic. The taillights are distinctive and all of the chrome all the way around the car is still shiny and adds to the cars overall look. The convertible top was replaced in Oct. 2006 with new back window and is in excellent condition. The top is powered to retract up and down with ease with the powered retractable convertible top.

Factory A/C, bucket seats are power driven on driver's  Slide away steering column. Fiberglass tonneau cover.

Engine & Transmission: The Thunderbird has a 390ci V8 engine with an automatic transmission that runs, drives and shifts great.

Interior:
The interior is black leather with chrome accents and black carpeting. One of the neatest and most desirable features of these cars is the matching painted black and white tonneau cover that hid the back seats making the car appear as a two-seater. The bucket seats are wrapped in black leather that has no wear on them and are in great condition. The chrome on the dash looks amazing and adds to the classic look of the interior of this car.

Wheels & Tires: The Thunderbird is sitting on radial whitewall tires mounted on the coveted Kelsey Hayes wire wheels all the way around that are all in great condition.

Electrical: Everything on the Thunderbird works as it should with the exception of the electric clock which is cosmetically in good condition but does not tell time.

Glass: The glass on the Thunderbird is in very good condition all the way around.

History: I bought the car from an Auto Broker in spring of 1987 and have meticulously cared for it since.  If you had asked me two years ago about it, I would have told you I would have it until the day I die, however, life takes turns and after retiring recently I am busier than ever and just do not drive it as often anymore as I should.  It is time for someone else to love her, drive her, and take care of her as I have enjoyed doing for so many years.
