For Sale: 1957 Ford Country Sedan in Mooresville, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

HIGHLIGHTS: Time-sweetened patina look that simply can't be replicated! This Ford Country Sedan has traveled over 13,000 miles since 2016 as a touring vehicle. Hot Rod Power Tour 2018 and 2019 Long Hauler! Turn-key driver ready to go wherever you point it.

BODY OVERVIEW: For an unrestored car of this vintage, the body is in remarkable condition. Originally sold in Texas, this Ford has been kept away from harsher climates and thus has survived quite well. There is some rust to be found here and there, but one must take into account that this is a car that has never seen anything close to a full restoration.

This is a car that has the classic rat-rod patina look to it without really being a rat-rod. Station wagons have certainly come into their own lately, and this car is a prime example as to why. The patina is legitimate and was earned over time. The paint and rust have been preserved using a protective oil rather than being clear coated or repaired. This isn't an old beater, these curves and patina have been taken care of over the years to preserve the weathered look.

PAINT CONDITION OVERVIEW: The paint on this car isn't exactly in good condition, but it does show the age of the car and the battle scars it has accrued along the way. At first, the current paint looks like a reason for a repaint. The argument could instead be made that it is a reason NOT to paint this car.

INTERIOR CONDITION OVERVIEW: The interior soft goods have been replaced at some point, as a touring car has to be comfortable to ride in. Aside from the seats, door panels, and other soft items, the interior retains a largely original look that fits perfectly with the rest of the car.

MECHANICAL OVERVIEW: Under the hood sits what is believed to be the original 312 'Thunderbird Special' Ford V8. You would simply not believe how well this car runs! If there was ever an example to not judge a book by its cover, this is it. Yes, it drips various fluids, and no the engine has not been recently rebuilt. However, despite this, this car runs like a Swiss watch.

Hooked up to the 312 V8 is a T5 5-speed manual transmission. Not only does this make driving this car a little bit more fun, but the extra gears (originally a 3-on-the-tree car) mean cruising cross-country is a breeze. This car will do 60MPH comfortably all day long. Some mechanical updates have been made, including an Edelbrock 4-bbl carb, alternator retrofit, and an electric cooling fan among others. Too many new parts to list here!

WHAT YOU'LL LOVE ABOUT THIS CAR: The crowd-pleasing effect it has due to the weathered look, as well as the way it drives. If you're looking to join in on the fun of Hot Rod Power Tour and other similar events, this Ford Country Sedan is your ticket in.

WHAT YOU MIGHT HATE ABOUT THIS CAR: This all depends on what you're looking for in a car. If you're a rat-rod guy, you'll love everything about it. If you're looking at it from a restoration perspective, not so much.

DOES IT NEED ANYTHING? Mechanically speaking, this car should be set for quite a while. The windshield seal and all other weatherstripping will eventually need to be replaced, as 60 years of baking in the Texas sun has taken its toll on the rubber.

WHAT BUYER IS LOOKING FOR THIS CAR? Anybody looking for a cool cruiser! Whether you want to see the USA from behind the wheel of a vintage car, or you're looking for something fun to take the kids out for ice cream in on Sundays, this Ford will fit the bill. Don't want to worry about door dings? This is it. Tired of washing your classic car before every outing? Don't worry about it! This is a driver's car; all it needs now is a new driver.
