Vehicle Description
This 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle SS Clone carries a thumping big block
under the hood and is decked out in an ultra-sharp color
combination you just can't help but stare at in admiration.
This '72 closed out the second generation of Chevelles, a model
that had undergone quite a transformation a half decade before,
when it was outfitted with a sloping, near-fastback rear roofline,
wider track and shortened wheelbase that collectively really caught
on with the buying public. The following year would herald the
arrival of another new generation with an altogether different
appearance, so it represents the last of the model in its signature
long hood, short deck lid muscle car form. It's certainly a
well-dressed specimen - the cranberry red paint is a definite
attention getter and was skillfully applied, and the broad pair of
stripes running the lengths of its hood and deck lid are no decals
- they're painted on with precision. Both the front grille and
distinctive rear deck panel are looking very solid, with no pitting
or dings in sight and a lap around the car will reveal that the
cabin glass is nice and clear with fresh rubber seals surrounding
the front and rear windshields. The appropriate badging is all in
place including that prominent "SS" in back, also presents very
well.
The black vinyl interior is fresh and well-maintained, with not
much sign of wear on either of the two rows of bench seating and
door panels that show no discoloration. It's a very clean vintage
driving environment inside these doors - still in factory
configuration but impressively functional at the same time. Just
beyond the leather wrapped steering wheel, all the gauges in the
instrument cluster are easily readable and work just as intended,
the textured panel they're recessed into still has its deep black
color, the dash pad above shows no splits and even the windows roll
up and down very smoothly - definitely not a given with cars of
this era. The air conditioning has been upgraded to today's R134a
freon and is in very good form and is well up to the task of
keeping you and your passengers comfortable as it blows strong and
cold through the in- dash vents. You'll find the original AM radio
still in place, but hidden in the glove box is a Pioneer AM/FM/CD
stereo with both an auxiliary port and Bluetooth connectivity, so
there'll be no shortage of audio options at your disposal.
Everything is in good order in the trunk area as well - there's a
lot of usable space on hand and the full-size spare sits properly
wrapped with its lug wrench close by.
This classic is propelled by a 454 cubic inch V8 that sits in the
engine compartment very nicely dressed with a pair of spotless
chrome valve covers and a Chevy-branded chrome air cleaner that
both look great against its orange engine block. In addition to the
substantial displacement it offers, the big block is in very good
form -carrying an Edelbrock 4-barrel carb on top, it starts up
easily and runs very smoothly as it pairs with a 3-speed automatic
TH350 transmission. With featured power steering and power brakes
that include discs up front, this Chevy is easy to navigate and
comes to prompt, fade-resistant stops on its set of 15" wheels
wrapped with Mastercraft Avenger G/T tires.
With its well-fitted appearance and big block power lurking under
the hood, this 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle SS Clone is one very sharp
looking, strong running classic muscle car. Call today!
