Vehicle Description
Attentive care and proper sheltering at the hands of a long term
owner have left this 1979 Chevrolet Corvette looking awfully sharp
for a car that's provided four decades of service. It's running and
sounding strong as well and features abundant curb appeal via the
flowing design that characterized the third generation of
'Vettes.
It makes an impression right away, with its eye-catching white
paint still in good form - there are no dents or dings of any
consequence on board and the deep shine that comes from a very
strong clearcoat becomes evident even from a distance. Debuting
toward the tail end of its generation, this '79 had the benefit of
a dozen years of refinements lavished upon its predecessors and
holds a substantial level of curb appeal. It's an aerodynamic
looking ride, with great styling cues nearly everywhere, from the
shark like front end to the flowing rear fenders and compact
spoiler on the deck lid. The sloping rear windshield adds to its
futuristic look while providing outstanding visibility, and its
T-Top configuration, with mirrored panels that fit really well and
seal tightly, is a big plus - open air driving whenever you want
it, with easily installed protection from the elements when you
don't. The still-fresh appearance of this Chevy reflects the
substantial amount of down time it's obviously spent under shelter
- besides the clean condition of the paint, its collection of cabin
glass and badging is still in top form.
The Oyster-colored interior remains in almost entirely original
configuration and years of respectful treatment have allowed it to
emerge from 40 years of service in pretty impressive aesthetic
shape, with contoured leather buckets that provide plenty of
support to hold you in place while canyon-carving and free of the
marked wear you'd expect in a car of this age. Some well-focused
attention will elevate this interior to a top-tier driving
environment. The thorough array of factory gauges in the cluster
extends to the center console, situated above the added Hurst
shifter to carry on the model's tradition of offering extensive
instrumentation. While a few of the displays will require a "going
over" to get back online, the overall presentation of the dash area
is still pretty impressive - everything on board is clear and
readable and a dash pad free of any cracking spans the width of the
cabin. An aftermarket AM/FM/CD stereo replaces its factory issue
counterpart to provide your tunes while behind the wheel.
This classic features a road-ready drivetrain that's
well-positioned to get the good times on the road started just as
soon as you get it home. Raise the lengthy hood and you'll find a
350 cubic inch V8 armed with a 4-barrel carb sitting inside the
engine compartment, dressed in an Edelbrock chrome air cleaner and
matching valve covers. The engine fires up promptly and teams with
a 4-speed manual transmission for a compelling "hands on" driving
experience while sending a smooth note out of the aftermarket
headers leading to a dual exhaust. Power disc brakes at all four
corners and smooth power steering make this 'Vette an easy
navigator that will come to a prompt stop when called for as it
cruises on its set of 15" stock Corvette wheels, wrapped with Grand
Prix Performance GT tires.
This 1979 Chevrolet Corvette offers the opportunity to own a
