Vehicle Description
1988 Chevrolet Corvette 35th Anniversary
Myron E. Scott went to work for Chevrolet in 1937, as an assistant
director for the Public Relations department, where he was
responsible for photography of new cars, designing of press kits,
graphics, and special events. He was also known for being the
creator of the All-American Soap Box Derby. After winning a contest
with 300 submissions, Myron thought the name Corvette rolled off
the tongue well and thought a tie to the fast strike ships called
"Corvettes" from World War II would appeal to the American men,
many who had served. This would go on to form the foundation for
the nautical names that would be applied to Corvettes and concepts
such as the Mako Shark and Sting Ray (later to be used as
Stingray).
For consignment a very nice example of a 1988 Corvette 35th
Anniversary Edition. With a mere 27,060 original miles, this car
retains all of its original parts and paint. The electronic fuel
injection feeding fuel very nicely, the top side is very tight with
paint showing beautifully. The car was rarely out in the rain
during this one person ownership and has been stored in a
garage.
Exterior
White like the wind driven snow, covers this car's exterior and is
in showroom condition showing very slight aging. A removable smoked
glass roof panel is seen on top. Badging is all correct, as well as
working hidden headlights. Standard saw blade body matching white
wheels are noted on all 4 corners and there is no curbing marks on
these.
Interior
Near perfect black carpet floods the floors, and the back trunk
area, and it is a deep, deep black, in very good condition. White
leather buckets showing as original and have minimal wear with the
usual fold lines that come with use. These buckets contain controls
for the power activation of them within the bolsters of the seats
and flank a black center console/white topped storage unit. This
also houses the controls for power windows, and exterior mirrors,
shift lever for the automatic transmission, climate control, AM/FM
Cassette, and a data center with a screen to display information
regarding gas mileage, service warnings and other key components of
the car. An all digital cluster of gauges in colorful form all
working like new are fronted by a white rimmed steering wheel.
Drivetrain
The stout 350ci V8 L98 small block is topped by electronic fuel
injection and is backed by a 700 R4 - speed automatic transmission
that shifts smoothly. The engine is very clean and has little
corrosion and nice shiny hoses and belts.
Undercarriage
Typical of a low, low mileage car no rust, structurally sound, C4
suspension is clean, and frame is very sound. Power disc brakes are
all around. Noted are Bilstein shocks, and the sport handling
package.
Drive-Ability
Still showroom condition, everything worked as new, and this car
ran like a champ and handled like it was on rails. The interior
seats are very comfortable.
I dare you to try to find another 35th Anniversary Corvette with
mileage as low as this car, with paint as nice as this car, and
with an interior as sweet as this car. A real celebration in total
style of the sporty car Harley Earl thought up 35 years ago. And
the legend continues...Happy Anniversary!!
