Vehicle Description
An inspired and tasteful presentation both inside and out leaves
this 1936 Ford Sedan convertible in select company. You just don't
see many Fords from this era on the road these days to begin with
and certainly far fewer that display such a distinctive pairing of
vintage and streetrod sensibilities. It's running in top form and
offers a very comfortable driving experience.
As the turbulent 1930's reached their midpoint, Ford seemed intent
on taking a quantum aesthetic leap ahead from the legacy left from
its trusty Model A. Put this sedan side by side with its noble
predecessor from just a few year prior and, while some resemblance
can still be seen, it's a fleeting one. Style became a priority by
this time and it's on abundant display here in the form of a
lengthy hood line, generously proportioned cabin and a markedly
lower center of gravity for better stability. The car is draped in
high impact black paint that's free of any glaring blemishes and
needs only a thorough buff and wax session to regain its full
potential. The low-slung, ever so slightly inclined stance keeps
this Ford's vintage identity thoroughly intact while adding just a
touch of streetrod mojo. For those occasions calling for shelter
from the elements, the black cloth convertible top is in outright
great shape, with no pressure point wear or rips and a clear glass
rear window to maximize visibility. While the black steel of the
body takes center stage, the brightwork and bumpers on board this
classic really present well.
The gray leather interior features an appealing blend of comfort
and aesthetics, with two rows of plushly padded bench seating that
have a late model appearance and contrast perfectly with the jet
black carpet lining the floor. Look around and you'll see plenty of
nice touches - a quartet of color matched door panels, chrome bars
on hand to make getting in and out of the back seat easier and an
exceptionally well organized dash area, where a full complement of
parchment faced Classic Instrument gauges is surrounded by clean
black steel. A set of vents has been seamlessly recessed into the
dash to bring cool or warm air as needed into the cabin via the
added Vintage Air climate control system. Also on board is a JVC
AM/FM/CD stereo with iPod and XM connectivity to provide a wealth
of audio options. Behind the spacious cabin, the trunk area is in
good order, with a finished floor and inner walls and plenty of
storage space.
This vintage Ford also offers plenty of dependable power. The 302
cubic inch V8 fits perfectly in the tapered engine compartment and
is armed with an Edelbrock intake manifold and a 4-barrel Holley
carb sitting underneath a chrome oval air cleaner. The engine fires
up easily and sends a smooth, deep note out of the aftermarket dual
exhaust while pairing with a 3-speed automatic C4 transmission that
shifts without issue. A Pertronix Flame Thrower coil pairs with an
HEI ignition to maximize available spark, while tubular front
control arms provide improved caster adjustability and optimal
front tire clearance while turning. This inspired classic rides on
a set of staggered red wire wheels - 14" in front and 15" in back -
wearing a fresh set of steel belted radials. Below, the
undercarriage is absolutely rock solid.
Chances to own such a well-configured classic don't come around all
that often and the ultra-appealing aesthetics and nice details
aboard this 1936 Ford Sedan convertible make it a truly rare find.
