For Sale: 2003 Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class in Charlotte, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

Could this 40,499-mile Mercedes-Benz SLK32 be the perfect analog convertible? Fast, stylish, luxurious and ready for open-air cruising, it might just be the Swiss Army knife of world-class motoring. The cool thing about a brand like Mercedes-Benz, or Swiss Army for that matter, is that they're really good at offering everything their clientele could ever want or need. So, if you're looking for a retro luxury car that's pretty much great at everything, this lavish Benz should be at the top of your list!

PEWTERIFIC

Paraded roughly 2,500 miles each year, this clean SLK has been attentively preserved by only two owners throughout its entire existence. The car's sophisticated Pewter Metallic 2-stage is exceptionally dynamic, and absolutely nails the rococo aesthetic AMG has spent years cultivating. Fit and finish is just as you'd expect from something that, even back in 2003, retailed for over $55K. Naturally, this cool Mercedes-Benz is, like all our modern classics, backed by a clean CARFAX Report. And overall, the car is an outstanding piece that mixes Old World craft with New Age pizzazz!

Like all of Daimler's best luxury metal, this drop-top's styling is brilliantly executed with elegant proportions that rightfully place form over function. At the front of the car, an AMG-spec fascia fashions sporty mesh grilles around bright headlights, small fog lamps and a familiar, 3-point star. Behind that bumper, a blistered hood leads the eye to a heated windshield washer system, which clears factory-tint glass that's capped by a one-touch retractable hardtop. At the sides of that greenhouse, sculpted rockers frame heated mirrors, poignant "V6 KOMPRESSOR" badging and a short antenna. And at the back of this Benz, a second AMG-spec fascia shades polished exhaust tips under clean taillights, a thin spoiler and more chromed branding.

AWESOME ATHLETICS

Hoist the hood and you'll find roughly 3.2 liters of stout, SOHC V6 that's so smooth it'll make you forget you're in a performance car. Internally dubbed M112, that all-aluminum engine hangs trick, 3-valve heads over a 1-piece cam, iron-coated pistons and fracture-split forged connecting rods. A variable length intake and sequential fuel injection join a helical twin-screw supercharger to bump an impressive 9 to 1 compression into 349 horsepower and 332 lb./ft. of silky torque. And that's before considering the mill's aftermarket blower pulley and prominent NeedsWings Cold Air Intake. One squeeze of the throttle and a 5G-Tronic 5-speed automatic streams seamless thrust through a highway-friendly rear end. Turns get handled by fluid power steering. Need to stop? No worries: a beefed up 4-wheel disc brake system makes excellent use of cross-drilled rotors and Brembo calipers. And a fully independent AMG suspension rolls on 18-inch Kosei wheels and lucid 225/40 and 255/35 Michelin Pilot Super Sports.

LAUDABLE LUXURY

Inside this fashionable land rocket, you'll find a wood-trimmed Charcoal cockpit that's 20th century Teutonic luxury at its very finest. French-stitched buckets wrap "AMG" branded leather around both heat and full power adjustment for both the car's driver and passenger. A conservative, dual-cowl dash floats conservative, AMG-branded telemetry above factory climate control and crisp Becker Grand Prix audio. Improved road feel gets transmitted through an AMG-spec steering wheel. And the car's roster of excellent amenities includes power windows, power door locks, Cruise Control and a factory anti-theft system with integrated engine immobilization.

The bottom line: this Mercedes-Benz is A LOT of metal for the money! Great drop-top style, incredible AMG performance, and a brand of luxury that's unmatched by everything but the best of today's showroom-fresh metal. What more could anyone ask for?
