Vehicle Description
You're looking at the ultimate lead sled. This 1950 Mercury Eight
Monterey has been customized with an awesomely slick appearance,
leather-lined A/C interior, and shinning V8 power. So you'll likely
nickname it "Cherry Snowflake" because you're likely never going to
see another one like it.
This is a build with less than 600 miles on it, and that fresh
quality is seen over every inch. Take one look at the body. This
Mercury has all the great traits of the legendary hot rods like the
frenched headlights, shaved door handles, and lowered suspension.
Plus, there are terrific details, like the fenders skirts and
iconic whitewalls. And of course, the body was expertly chopped.
They took out 4 inches in the front and 5.5 in the rear to give
this a seductive rake that this iconic street machine deserves. But
our favorite custom element has to be the paint. The deep Black
Cherry has been expertly applied so that the curves of the
sheetmetal are more like silk waving in the breeze. The only thing
to rival the paint for shine is all the brightwork on the custom
grille, wraparound bumpers, headlight bezels, large exhaust tips,
and half-moon wheel covers. Oh yes, they know how to make a lead
sled!
The brightness of the ivory and cashmere interior against the dark
exterior almost looks like this one is radiating from within. And
it only gets better when you step inside. This is a thoughtful
setup where you have a white headliner and supple white leather
seats. But the pristine color doesn't work well for the carpeting,
so they used a darker tan cashmere. This has been expertly
integrated together in places like the door panels and center
console so that the two colors intertwine in an award-worthy
presentation. In fact, one of our favorite parts is the top of the
center console that has the look of a pinstripe suit, and it
coordinates so well with the dash trim above it. Not only does this
all look awesome, but it's also feature-filled. You have a power
driver's seat, power windows, and cold-blowing air conditioning.
The Kenwood AM/FM/CD/XM radio has a pop-up screen for your DVD
player, and it connects to a full subwoofer stereo system. You get
a cool custom sports steering wheel on a tilt column, and beyond
that is an expertly integrated set of AutoMeter gauges. It all
tells you this slick custom is also built for driving.
The hood opens forward via electric motor to reveal an engine bay
can win that could awards all on its own. It's a custom setup where
you get a terrific view of the V8 and the huge investment in
shining components. More than just a stellar presentation, this
motor was made to move. The 383 cubic-inch displacement gives you
big block capacity in a small block weight. Plus, it has been
enhanced with an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock
Performer intake, and shorty headers that feed a rumbling dual
exhaust. They even gave this the right supporting components, like
serpentine belts, an MSD ignition, and an aluminum radiator w/large
electric fan. Plus, cruising this lead sled is easy thanks to easy
driving features like power steering, a three-speed automatic
transmission, power brakes w/discs up front, and modern treads on
the classic-style whitewalls.
