For Sale: 1976 AMC Pacer in Seekonk, Massachusetts

Vehicle Description

This amazing 1976 AMC Pacer Custom has been restored to show quality standards and in one of the best. It runs and drives as good as it looks.  The AMC Pacer is a 2-door compact car produced in the US by American Motors Corporation from 1975-1979.  The unique design feature was promoted by AMC as the “first wide small car”.  The Pacer was the first modern mass produced US automobile design using the cab forward concept.  The Pacers rounded “Jellybean” styling has made it an icon of the 1970’s.  The body surface was 37 percent glass.  The May 1976 issue of Car and Driver dubbed it “The Flying Fishbowl”.  The Pacer was also a star in the 1992 film “Wayne’s World”.  As the VIN number indicates this car was born a 1976 AMC Pacer equipped with a 258 Inline six-cylinder and automatic transmission. As the trim tag indicates this car was Autumn Red Metallic from the factory. From the information gathered this car was originally purchased in El Paso, TX. It was sold to a gentleman in Albuquerque, NM in January 1998. It was then sold a gentleman in Kenosha, WI in 2007. This owner started a restoration but never finished it. It was sold to a gentleman in Algonquin, IL in 2017 and he completed the restoration in 2019. This was a comprehensive nut and bolt restoration. The exterior body is super straight with great gaps throughout. The car was painted 2003 Mitsubishi Dark Red Pearl which is a gorgeous color. The paint quality is absolutely stunning and a mile deep. The body and paint on this car leaves people speechless. The rear bumper was painted body color. It sports a custom front upper and lower grille that was painted black. The headlight buckets, marker light bezels, window trim and drivers mirror were also painted black to match. The Dark Red Pearl and black accents complement each other perfectly. The emblems were all removed for a smooth look.  All of the exterior glass was replaced at some point and is in really nice condition with only minor scratches. The car sits on 15” American Racing Torque Thrust polished wheels. There wrapped with new BF Goodrich Radial TA tires that are 215-60-15 on the front and 235-60-15 on the rear. The burgundy interior was completely restored with custom ultra-soft upholstery. This interior is in beautiful overall condition. Everything was restored or replaced such as the headliner, sun visors, dash pad, dash, dash hardware, gauges, steering wheel, door panels, door hardware, seats, seat belts, carpeting and floor mats. The custom ultra-soft upholstery was added to the bucket seats, rear seat, front door panels and rear panels. Everything in the interior is in working order with the exception of the radio. The rear trunk area has been all carpeted. The painted engine compartment is highly detailed throughout. The car is powered by a remanufactured 258 Inline six-cylinder engine with 110hp and 195 lbs-ft. This engine was completely rebuilt by well-known S&J Engines located in Spokane, WA. It has a remanufactured Uremco #10-10048 carburetor, braided wires and AC Delco battery. This engine starts and runs excellent. The engine breathes through a Flowmaster muffler that sounds great. The engine is coupled with an automatic transmission with floor shifter. The Torque-Flight 904 transmission was rebuilt and shifts very smoothly. The car is equipped with power steering that also works smoothly. The undercarriage is very clean throughout. The underside of the body was undercoated and the parts were painted satin black. Everything was restored or replaced such as the suspension system and braking system. It’s equipped with power brakes with front discs. This car is the center of attention wherever it does and a blast to drive.  Rock on!
