Vehicle Description
This matching-numbers Fuelie Corvette convertible received a
35-year, nut-and-bolt, frame-off restoration to original
specifications and has less than 200 miles since completion. It is
documented as an original Fuelie car with the original "Fuel
Injection" side emblem, and the vehicle has all the identifying
engine compartment elements specific to the Corvettes that were
factory-original fuel-injected cars. It's powered by a
professionally rebuilt 283/315hp V8 fuel-injected engine paired to
a 4-speed manual transmission with a 4:11 posi-traction rear axle.
During the restoration process, the body was removed from the
frame, professionally stripped and then professionally painted. The
frame and suspension components were stripped, repaired and
repainted as original. All suspension components were replaced or
restored, and a restored gas tank with all-new hoses and lines has
been installed. The chrome was professionally rechromed, and it
rides on original-style wide whitewall tires. This Corvette is
finished in Roman Red lacquer paint with Ermine White coves over a
new Al Knoch red interior. The interior features new carpet and
padded dash pad. The factory-original AM Wonder Bar radio,
instruments, gauges and clock have been restored. It is topped by a
professionally installed new white soft-top and frame. It is one of
1,462 Corvettes with fuel injection produced in 1961, and this
Fuelie was awarded the NCRS Top Flight award, receiving a score of
94.8% out of the 4,510 points judged.
