This custom Chevelle SS received a frame-off, nut-and-bolt
restoration that took more than 4,000 hours to complete. It is
powered by a balanced and blueprinted 468ci V8 big-block engine
featuring Holley Sniper EFI, aluminum heads, full roller, MSD
ignition, revolver billet serpentine system, steel crank and a
Thumpr COMP cam. The engine is paired with a new T56 6-speed manual
transmission and dual disk Quicktime hydraulic clutch. Also
features a new driveline with a 12-bolt differential cut 1.5 inches
per side, Mosier axles and Eaton posi-traction with a 4:11 Strange
Gear. It is kept cool by an aluminum radiator with dual fans. This
Chevelle rides on a powder-coated Ridetech suspension with
MuscleBar front and rear sway bars, upper and lower Strong Arms
with spindle, 10-pound air compressor with an onboard controller,
Shockwave front shocks and a quick-ratio sneering box. Wilwood
brakes, 6-piston front and 4-piston rear, and a Wilwood master
cylinder with proportioning valve help this SS slow down. The PPG
black paint was applied on a rotisserie, and the entire car was
media-blasted to start the build. A custom-made firewall, with
wiring and hoses rerouted under the fenderwell, give the engine
compartment a smooth appearance. The front and rear bumpers have
been cut and seamed, with the bolt holes welded to have smooth body
lines, and were color-matched to the black body. The trunk matches
the interior of the car. The interior features custom leather door
panels, bucket seats and a driver's-side power seat. The floors are
done in LizardSkin, with insulation and Dynomat throughout the
entire car, trunk and roof. Carpet is Bentley-style with a new
headliner and visors. The gauges are Dakota Digital with a silver
background, and the Vintage Air system was raised 7 inches in the
firewall and moved 3 inches closer. A custom-made tunnel was
installed to accommodate period-correct console, which features
power window controls. The rear seat has access to the truck to
service the compressor and red-top Optimum battery. The audio is
prewired to the trunk with a Vintage Sound head unit to support the
amps. The door handles, key locks, window trims and headlight
bezels feature matte black CERACOAT. The halo headlights are white
with new lenses and wiring. It features new tinted glass, rubber,
felts and Painless wiring. This custom Chevelle rides Boyd
Coddington wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot tires.
