Vehicle Description
In the Summer of 1966, Volvo introduced the 144 as the successor to
the popular 120 line. The car debuted Volvo's boxy aesthetics for
the first time, a design that would stick with Volvo for decades.
At the time, the 144 was considered the safest car ever built. The
body featured energy absorbing crumple zones and for wheel disc
brakes. Trumping its safety, was the cars overall reliability and
longevity.
Fresh off the boat, GR Auto Gallery is excited to offer this
extremely original, ultra clean, 1971 Volvo 144 De Luxe euro sedan.
The car appears to retain most if not all of its original Turquois
factory paint over original brown interior. The recently came to
the US form Germany, and from the documentation provided it has
spent most of its life in Italy. This Volvo is powered by its 2.0
liter inline 4 cylinder engine fed by twin SU Carbs, 4 Speed manual
transmission and rear wheel drive. Mechanically, this 144 is spot
on. It runs excellent, pulls strong in every gear, tracks straight
and stops quickly.
Cosmetically, this original Volvo is clean clean clean. The
sheetmetal and connection points are excellent in all areas. Under
the hood and in the trunk reveal excellent nooks and corners, the
original interior is fantastic all around.
