Vehicle Description
It's not just that this 1960 Pontiac Firebird was born in a
timeless black and gold color combo. It's that this V8 droptop has
been expertly restored to make sure everyone instantly takes notice
of this terrific vintage machine.
Sure, we love '60s power machines in red and black, but here's a
more sophisticated way to stand out. This is an exceptional
re-spray of the factory Antique Gold. When the sunlight hits it,
there's an amazing shine thanks to a modern clearcoat. And quite
frankly, you know you want your droptop looking its best on a sunny
day, because that's exactly what it was built for. And even on the
days you have the roof up, the newer black vinyl top looks great
against the gold. But more than just an ideal color combo, you love
that these first-gen Firebirds were an instant classic thanks to
the bold styling. It starts up front with the unique chrome bumper
that gives the whole front end Pontiac's wide track look. Good
attention during the restoration surely helped make sure items like
the crease that runs from nose to tail is crisply defined, and you
recognize the faux vents in the quarter panels are a sporty
contrast that helps break up the otherwise smooth body. This one
really is great right down to the details, like the 400 callouts on
the hood scoops and the Rally II wheels with PMD center caps.
If you like the way the black roof looks against the gold exterior,
then with the flip of a switch, you'll love powering down the top
to reveal the full black interior. The seats, carpets, door panels,
and dash have a deep and dark presentation that tells you they
really went over this and looked for quality. And the burled walnut
appliques on the center console and wood-rim steering wheel adds
more of that great premium feeling. This one has an original look,
right down to the AM/FM stereo that's still crisply cranking out
tunes. In fact, the only addition that you may notice is the water
temp gauge. It's a welcomed upgraded, because it combines with the
wood-rimmed steering wheel and large speedo/tach combo to remind
you that this is a great classic for driving.
Just like the rest of the car, the engine bay has been given a
solid investment for a bold factory-style preparation. The Pontiac
turquoise block radiates from within the dark fender walls, and
it's nicely dressed with bright valve covers and an air topper with
proper callouts. This 400 cubic-inch V8 is already known for being
powerful, especially when topped with a four-barrel carburetor. But
as stock as this looks on top, it exhales with a deeper growl and
added power thanks to Hooker competition headers feeding the dual
exhaust. The three-speed automatic transmission and limited-slip
rear end deliver a nice combo of stout performance and easy
drivability. Plus, you have other great driving features, like
power steering and power brakes w/discs up front.
This classic was carefully restored to original style, and it even
has all the right paperwork. This includes the dealer invoice,
owner's manual, service manuals, and Pontiac Historic Services
(PHS) documentation. So if you've been looking for a cut-above
Firebird convertible, you need to hurry and call today!
