1957 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible
From the radically curved wraparound windshield to the "X" frame construction, the 1957 Cadillac was virtually all new. It was engineered to maintain the Cadillac motto "Standard of the World."
Stylists working under the direction of GM design chief, Harley Earl, made the '57 Eldorado much more special than any preceding editions. The softly curved sections of the body- front to back- were inspired by GM's Motorama show cars. Special gold Sabre-spoke wheels and a gold grille were standard features on the Eldorado Biarritz convertible as well as a fiberglass "parade" boot in body color to cover the top when down.
Standard equipment on the Eldorado included everything GM offered from full power equipment to E-Z eye tinted glass, to a rare option-- factory air-conditioning. When new, the Biarritz listed for $7286.
This Eldorado is powered by its original number matching 365 ci OHV engine, completely rebuilt top to bottom by a professional restorer. Pictures show how complete the rebuild was done. It develops 325 bhp at 4,800 rpm's and is fueled by the original twin 4-Barrel Carter Carburetor setup. The GM 4-speed Hydra-Matic Automatic transmission is also rebuilt.
It is important to note this is a California car that has had a FRAME OFF RESTORATION. The underside is rust free and finished correctly for show or go.!! The body was stripped to bare metal and finished in its original color of Black. All of the chrome and gold trim has been refinished to high standards as well. A huge amount of documentation is in a large box with the car. The complete ORIGINAL black and white leather interior was in such great shape, it was retained in the car to show this car was never abused and rebuilt.
