Vehicle Description
This 1991 Mitsubishi Jeep J53 is a RHD 44 that was imported from
Japan by the seller six months ago and is thought to have had two
prior owners. Power is supplied by a turbocharged 4DR6 diesel
engine paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox. Mitsubishi secured the
rights to build the Willys CJ3B under their own name beginning in
1954, and continued producing it through 1998. The black paint on
this example is said to exhibit a nice overall shine, but some
touch-ups are noticeable and there is some fading and cracking in
the gold decals. Front buckets and side-facing jump seats are
covered in brown vinyl with tan plaid inserts. Gauges are said to
function as they should along with interior lights and other
accessories, though the Mitsubishi radio receives only an AM
signal. Power is from a 4DR6 turbodiesel four which is said to
start quickly and idle well. The seller states the MHI turbo spools
up quickly and the transmission shifts crisply during brief test
drives. No service records from the vehicle's time in Japan are
available, but the seller indicates that the oil was changed
immediately after its arrival in the US. The J53 is equipped with
part-time four-wheel-drive with a manually-engaged transfer case
and front axle. Suspension components are believed to remain stock.
