Vehicle Description
At first glance, this might just seem like a clean 1973 Chevrolet
Corvette done in a glowing white. But then you might also wonder
why the growl is so mean. That's because this classic has been
upgraded to 525 horsepower worth of fuel-injected LS3 power! And
more than just a modern motor, you're going to see upgrades
everywhere from the A/C interior to the drivetrain. So dig into all
the details on this wild and well-done restomod.
The '73 Corvette looks great in white. This was the first year the
C3 had the more modern look of the chrome-free color-matched front
end. So you want a color with timeless appeal as the right place to
start with a well-done restomod. But while you'll soon discover how
upgraded this coupe is, the first impression is just of a solid
classic. Well-fitting panels, good trim, and bright rear bumpers
prove a well-respected Stingray. We would almost call this a
sleeper, but even the standard Corvette looks pretty speedy. In
fact, you're only real indication from the outside that this is an
upgraded machine are the polished alloys that weren't available
until later C3s. Well that, and the thunder this one makes when you
turn the key (more on that in a moment.)
Like the exterior, the interior's first impression is more of this
timeless quality. Two high-back bucket seats are finished in a
supple leather. They coordinate with the rest of the good-looking
tan interior. This has nice comfort features, like power windows, a
tilt steering column, and an upgraded AM/FM/CD stereo with aux
input for your iPod. Plus, the air conditioning is now blowing cold
with modern R134a, so feel free to take the T-tops out even in the
summertime. And as you slip behind the three-spoke sports steering
wheel you start to get the tingle of enhanced performance. After
all, the newer Dakota Digital gauge package glows with a crispness
the stock units never could. And even the full auxiliary readout
panel was upgraded to match.
Under this hood is a presentation unlike one you've likely ever
seen before. This C3 has the heart of a C6. The 525 horsepower LS3
fuel-injected V8 is the kind of powerhouse that leapfrogged the
Corvette back into the modern supercar performance era, and so it
has the right lineage to find a proper home in this classic. This
is actually a crate motor, and there's only about 4k miles on the
build, so that's why everything looks so fresh. It even was built
with the right supporting components, too, like the large aluminum
radiator. And while you'll show this distinct engine bay off with
pride, this was really built for you to enjoy on the open road. The
4L70E four-speed automatic transmission is the perfect paring for
quick downshifts into power and providing grand touring overdrive
comfort. The C3's fully independent sports suspension has been
further enhanced with tubular A-arms up front, an upgraded rear,
and adjustable coilovers all-around. Plus, you have power steering,
four-wheel power disc brakes, and wide BF Goodrich T/As.
The sale comes complete with the owner's manual, service manuals,
and plenty of receipts documenting this very cool transformation.
