For Sale: 1965 Pontiac GTO in Mooresville, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

HIGHLIGHTS: Real deal 1965 Pontiac GTO complete with PHS docs! Tri-Power and 4-speed manual equipped with gorgeous black interior. This is a quick little muscle car that really shows what a Goat can do!

BODY OVERVIEW: Panels are clean and straight, chrome and other brightwork in good driver-quality condition. All emblems appear to be present and in good usable condition.

You may find a minor defect here or there, but overall this is a gorgeous car! The body is very straight and all exterior pieces are both present and intact. The body appears to have been in very good condition when the yellow paint was applied.

PAINT CONDITION OVERVIEW: This Pontiac received a restoration in the past, and is certainly wearing a repaint. Overall, the paint is in good condition, but is beginning to show some age.

For the discerning buyer looking for a great quality classic muscle car they can drive the way GM intended, this would be a great choice. There are some minor chips and discoloration areas to be found, but it has excellent curb appeal. It looks as if some areas were touched up using paint that was just barely a shade off, and when looking closely this can be noticed. The paint is in good condition, and showing no signs of peeling or damage beyond some small rock chips here and there that are to be expected for a car that gets driven. With 17,000 miles logged since the restoration, this is a restored car that is "broken in" and some minor blemishes come with that territory.

INTERIOR CONDITION OVERVIEW: Original-style black vinyl interior, no rips or tears, no cracking in dash, and all other items appear intact. An aftermarket tachometer has been installed in the dash, but fits in and is a welcome addition.

Not much bad to say about the interior at all. It is has held up very well, and looks to have been put together correctly when the car was restored. The seats, dash, door panels, and all other items show minimal wear. A Pontiac wood steering wheel has been installed recently in favor of the original style black plastic, and it looks absolutely stunning against the black interior.

MECHANICALS OVERVIEW: The 389 V8 is what this car would've been equipped with originally, and is the ideal choice for a classic GTO. The Tri-Power setup feels good and this Pontiac leaps off the line.

Pop open the hood and you'll be greeted by a fully detailed engine bay as well as those three gorgeous two-barrel carburetors sitting atop the 389 V8. While it isn't 100% factory correct, it does look fantastic and would be more than presentable at a car show. This engine fires right up, and the Pontiac simply purrs like one would expect.

WHAT YOU'LL LOVE ABOUT THIS CAR: The spirit of the GTO is alive and well in this example! If you haven't driven a Tri-Power car before, one lap around the block in this car would make you fall in love. It sounds great, runs great, and is a true muscle car.

WHAT YOU MIGHT HATE ABOUT THIS CAR: The paint could be nicer, but is presentable. The body looks like it would be very accepting of a fresh coat, and that would really give this GTO a next-level appearance!

DOES IT NEED ANYTHING? It is turn key, but the Flowmaster mufflers have seen better days and could stand to be replaced. It still sounds fantastic though!

WHAT BUYER IS LOOKING FOR THIS CAR? If you are looking to relive your glory days, or simply want an affordable American icon, this is the car for you. It is nice enough that it will always turn heads, but not so nice that you would be afraid to drive it like a muscle car. After all, banging gears is half the fun!
