Vehicle Description
1955 Plymouth Belvedere
All Plymouth's were treated to a major overhaul for the 1955 model
year. This was the first year of legendary Chrysler Stylist Virgil
Exner's "Forward Look" and the redesigned Belvedere returned as
elite model of the whole fleet. This revolutionary no-post design
is unlike any other cars of the time period with it's lines and
details putting it over-the-top in style. The car is very close to
stock with just a few upgrades that are detailed below.
The car sounds great when it starts on the first turn and the 241ci
Hy-fire V8 motor comes to life. There is a unique rumble to one of
these engines that gives it a different sound from the rest of the
pack. It may not win many drag races, but there is plenty of pep as
it glides through the recently rebuilt 3-speed transmission and
stock rear-end. The engine has just been tuned-up and has a new cam
shaft, timing gear, lifter, thermostat, mounts, voltage regulator,
radiator, water pump, rebuilt heads, battery and an upgraded
electronic fuel pump. She stops on a dime with power brakes that
are in like-new condition and the emergency has just been rebuilt
as well.
The structure of this 4th generation sedan is in amazing shape with
it's eye-popping red and white paint. All of the original chrome
and trim shines complimenting it and the low stance just hovering
over the concrete. The frame is in excellent condition and supports
the new shocks in the rear, Ford U-Joints and rebuilt steering gear
along with the classic covered full size spare with full change kit
still intact. Inside you will find many assorted parts accumulated
over the years along with the re-chromed bumper guards and
unfinished fender skirts that can make the car look completely
different in the blink of an eye when painted. If you would like we
could assist you in getting them painted. The sedan is just as
pretty inside as it is out, with the original tri-color interior
done only as they could be back in 1955 with exceptional
craftsmanship and style. The seats are red with cloth black and
gray insets that match up nicely with the dashboard. Inside that
you will see the gauges, iconic dash shift column and speaker for
the working AM radio. Just off to the left is the control arm for
the spotlight located outside the driver's side window.

1955 in big style!
