This 1985 BMW 325e was used as a Skip Barber driving school car
until being acquired in 1990 by John Payson of Payson Enterprises.
It was subsequently converted into a cosmetic clone of Korman
Autoworks' E30 M3 race car, which at the time was campaigned in the
IMSA Firestone Firehawk series. M3 bodywork was added and the
exterior was painted to match the Gary Buch livery of the race car,
though mechanical systems were left alone. Power is from a 2.7L eta
inline-six mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, and the interior
retains its factory cloth upholstery. The car was used for display
purposes by Payson, who in 2010 donated it to the BMW Car Club of
America Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to providing defensive
driving programs for teens, as well as curation of BMW CCA
archives. Service performed in 2015 included a new timing belt,
tensioner, and water pump. This unique 325e now shows just 8,600
miles and is sold with service records and a clean South Carolina
title in BMW CCA Foundation's name. 100% of the proceeds from this
sale, along with the BaT buyer's fee, will go to the charity. This
