Vehicle Description
1964 Ford F100 Pickup
The 1964 advertising for the F100 stated that toughness and comfort
can live together and do so on the F100. Versatility was the key
trying to coax the suburban dads to put themselves into a pickup,
in lieu of that second car for mom. A strong new body, and a smooth
new ride, would it get any better?
For consignment a well restored F100 that is in great shape on the
exterior and comfortable on the interior. Near perfect badging,
chrome, paint, fit, finish, and bed. This is a turnkey truck,
meaning that you come in, purchase the truck, and drive it away
with no additional work, or effort on your part. Just go and start
to show!
Exterior
A very tasteful and nice visual mixture of Maroon and White
interplay with straight steel panels minding their gaps very well.
Beautiful perfectly aligned trim spears with showroom condition
badging run from stem to stern at the belt line. The original style
grille, now pristine shows in its 1964 glory, with nary a fault on
it. You gotta love the Custom Cab badging in script writing
attached to each door. A shout out to the beautiful white vinyl
cover for the bed which is nice and tight as well as sparkling
clean. A look into the bed and we can see it was lined with texture
paint. To the rear where the Ford painted badging is on the gate,
another pristine bumper wraps everything neatly up. We will not
forget the tinted glass, and shiny Cragars on all 4 corners on this
slightly lowered truck.
Interior
The tasteful treatment carries on in the interior with a large
bench stretching from matching door panel to door panel. All this
in red crushed velour with white vinyl bolsters and the doors have
white stitched panels on the uppers. The original looking dash has
been two toned with a maroon dash top, and white front. Original
gauge cluster has been retained but rechromed and it looks
showroom. Hanging below the dash is a Vintage air conditioning unit
and fronting it is the original restored steering wheel complete
with attached tachometer. Rugged loop carpet in clean black covers
the floor, and a nice tight maroon broadcloth headliner hovers
above.
Drivetrain
A clean and mean 292ci V8 resplendent with its orange paint and
shiny trimmings sports an Edelbrock carburetor in 4-barrel form
atop. A 4-speed manual top loader tranny is installed as well as a
Ford 9-inch rear. Nicely packaged under the hood, nearly ready for
Christmas!
Undercarriage
Nicely preserved with straight black steel, floorpans and bed frame
liner. Suspension is leaf springs all around, new disc brakes in
the front, new drum brakes in the rear, and a new rack and pinion
steering setup.
Drive-Ability
No time at all to start after turning the key. This truck ran very
nicely, has good power, and sweet handling. Not a stiff truck ride
as one would expect, but a great smooth cruiser. The interior is
comfortable, and the air blows cold.
This truck is as comfortable as hauling things around the farm, or
to construction sites as it is showing up to the country club. It
is that nicely finished. A few faults, and a very fair price which
the consigner did his research on. All good here in 1964 and
2019.
