1970 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia for sale. Current lady purchased this car in 2007 and used it as her main transportation since. It has been a good, reliable car but now it's ready for an enthusiast that can give it the love and attention it deserves.
The exterior looks fine though it could use a good cleaning and detailing. It was originally red when new and was repainted before she purchased it. It has a few nicks and scratches as you would expect after many years but still cleans up nicely. You'll notice a scratch on the lip at the front, left wheel opening that should polish out. The floors and undercarriage are in good condition, I don't see any rust-through on the car. The interior is mostly original but at the very least could use new door panels, seat covers, and dash veneer. Under the hood the jack, tools and spare tire are present.
The car still has the correct 1600cc 54bhp engine, Stamped B6145245 that starts runs fine. The 4-speed transmission shifts up and down through the gears easily. As a 50-year-old classic, expect to do some basic servicing to bring it current.
The title was branded as "Salvaged" when she purchased the car in 2007 though there is no record of this in the NICB (See https://www.nicb.org/vincheck ). I have looked the car over and can't find any sign of major damage to indicate that this title was issued due to damage exceeding value. More than likely it was stolen at some point in its life but not recovered until after that owner was paid off. These are the only two ways such branding can occur. While I am fairly well-versed in vintage VW's and have had many in my inventory over the years (especially Karmann Ghias), I invite questions and insight from others and I am always happy to facilitate any inspections. Regardless, please do your due diligence if this is of concern since I am selling it "as-is". The identification in the trunk, bulkhead, windshield and door jamb all match. The title is clear with no liens.
