This stunning 1975 AMC Pacer has been restored to show quality standards and is one of the best. It runs and drives as good as it looks. The AMC Pacer is a 2-door compact car produced in the US by American Motors Corporation from 1975-1980. The unique design feature was promoted by AMC as the “first wide small car”. The Pacer was the first modern mass produced US automobile design using the cab forward concept. The Pacers rounded “Jellybean” styling has made it an icon of the 1970’s. The body surface was 37 percent glass. The May 1976 issue of Car and Driver dubbed it “The Flying Fishbowl”. The Pacer was also a star in the 1992 film “Wayne’s World”. As the VIN number indicates this car was born a 1975 AMC Pacer equipped with a 232 inline 6 cylinder and 3-speed manual transmission. As the trim tag indicates this car was Red from the factory. From the information gathered this car was purchased in Pennsylvania in 1995 from the second owner with approximately 22,000 original miles on it. The third owner decided to have the car completely restored at a restoration shop in 2002 and it was completed in 2004. This was a comprehensive no expense spared restoration. During the restoration the car was dressed with the “X” package. The factory “X’ package included Pacer X decals, chrome features, styled round wheels, vinyl bucket seats, sports steering wheel, custom trim, floor-mounted gear shifter and front sway bar. There is no documentation to support whether it left the factory with the “X” package. The third owner showed the car at the AMO Nationals in 2005 and 2007 winning the Gold Award both times. The story and awards are undocumented. However, the restoration is documented with a photo album with many photos which is included. Since completion the car has had a few owners. The last owner owned the car since almost five years and the car currently has 24,975 miles. The exterior body is super straight with great gaps throughout. The car was repainted red which is a gorgeous color and fits this car well. The paint quality is absolutely stunning and ocean deep. All of the glass was replaced with new PPG glass which is crystal clear. Everything on the exterior was restored or replaced such as the stainless window trim, rubber seals, antenna, chrome mirror, bumpers, door handles, headlights, taillights, etc. The car sits on 14” chrome styled round wheels that are wrapped with BF Goodrich Radial TA 215-70-14 tires. The exterior of this car is truly remarkable! The exterior is complemented with a new white and black interior that is in showroom condition. The headliner, sun visors, door panels, rear panels, front seats and rear seat are white. The dash, steering wheel, seat belts and carpet is black. Everything in the interior was restored or replaced. The interior of this car is also truly remarkable! The painted engine compartment is highly detailed throughout with many correct parts. The car is powered by the original 232 Inline- six cylinder engine. This engine was completely rebuilt which is documented with restoration photos that are included. The engine starts and runs excellent. The engine is coupled to a 3-speed manual transmission that operates very nicely. The painted undercarriage is very detailed throughout. Everything underneath the car was restored or replaced such as the suspension system and braking system. This car is the center of attention wherever it does and a blast to drive. Rock on!
