STK 2678 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 Tribute
Chevrolet's marketing jargon for the Chevelle SS396 was simple:
'The SS396 will bring on a severe compulsion to go driving.' The
'66 model was a refreshed version of the first generation Chevelle
and it was a stunner. Styling was entirely new from previous years,
providing a much longer, leaner appearance. This 1966 Chevelle
Malibu was not an original '138' code SS396, but is a totally
restored (2009) tribute car, a virtual match to that performance
icon. A beautiful new coat of 'Butternut Yellow' was applied to the
classic body and the black vinyl interior was completely restored
and upgraded. It is equipped with A/C, AM radio, tinted windows and
a set of AutoMeter gauges and tachometer. The 396/360hp 'Rat' was
totally rebuilt and is fitted with Edelbrock intake, Holley
dual-feed carb and Accel ignition. Backed by 4-speed manual w/Hurst
Comp+ shifter, it sounds strong through tube headers and dual
exhaust. Original GM Rally wheels w/trim rings and spinner-centers
mount stout BFG Radial T/A tires. Brakes are power-assisted
disc/drum. This handsome BowTie is going to look great in someone's
