In 1948 the XK120 was conceived as an attractive box that Jaguar planned to use to display its’ newest pride and joy…the twin overhead cam 3.5 liter inline 6-cylinder engine meant to propel post-war saloon cars. However, when the public viewed the perfect proportions and graceful curves customer response was so overwhelming the factory, caught off guard, executed the build order. In 1951 Jaguar added the XK120 Closed Coupe to the existing Roadster and Drop-Head Coupe models. Among XK Closed-Coupe models, the XK120 is considered by many to maintain the delicate “teardrop’ roof line favored in designs such as the Talbot-Lago SS 150 and Bugatti Type 57C Atlantic.
The1951 XK120 Fixed Head Coupe offered here presents in Maroon with tobacco interior and is equipped with the 3.5 liter 6-cylinder with an upgraded 5 speed gearbox. Recent care and maintenance include new distributor coil, sparking plugs, fuel pump, flushed radiator, hoses, water pump, carburetor rebuild, brakes The car starts easily and runs cool even in the California sun.
Upgrades: 5 speed gearbox. seat belts, front disk brakes, stage 2 cams, Le Mans exhaust. This is probably the best 120 I have ever driven, (200 plus miles) fun smooth, (Clive-owner XKS Motorsport) perfect on the highways or byways, reliable and a that exhaust note...Wow. .This car will not disappoint.
