The 1936 Chevrolet Standard and Master DeLuxe enabled Chevyto reclaim first place from Ford during 1936. Sales were up nearly 70 percent. Featuring a new seamless steel Turret-Top body and two-piece vee'd windshield. The 36 was billed as "the aristocrat of its field.” With doors hinged at the leading edge. The built-in trunks, proved highly popular.
Chevrolet's other big news for 1936 was its adoption of hydraulic brakes and a new box-girder frame, which was both stronger and lighter than the X-type. Seventeen-inch steel wheels were standard.
