Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this frame-off restored 1981
Jeep Scrambler CJ8. Finished in correct-to-the-trim-tag Oriental
Red, paint quality is better than factory over a very straight and
rust-free body. Excellent glass plus all-new bumpers, hardware,
seals and weatherstripping. Nicely re-finished chrome wagon wheels
wearing new Goodyear Wranglers. Correct graphics and wood bed rail.
Easily one of the nicest restored CJ variants we've seen (and the
CJ8 Scrambler is certainly rarer and more interesting than a CJ5 or
CJ7).
Interior has likewise been restored with new door panels, dash pad
and OEM seats. Excellent original hard top in like-new condition.
Original steering wheel and full instrumentation including factory
tachometer and clock (plus, of course, the speedometer,
temperature, fuel level, oil pressure and voltage gauges, all of
which work).
Under the hood is AMC's legendary 4.2 liter inline six mated to a
four-speed manual transmission, both of which were rebuilt along
with a new clutch (and rebuilt transfer case) fewer than 2,000
miles ago. New battery, alternator, starter and tune-up items. Full
brake system overhaul. Very nicely detailed engine compartment and
undercarriage (down to the original factory jack mounted on the
passenger inner fender). It runs and drives just as good as you
would expect given the low mileage since restoration - you'd be
hard pressed to find a nicer, more correct example.
