Vehicle Description
With its endless style and generous proportions, this 1946 Buick
Roadmaster is one of those classics that's sure to demand attention
wherever it goes. You don't often see anything on the road quite
like it and in addition to its commanding presence, it's got a
strong running drivetrain that'll get you out on the asphalt with
no hassles, in addition to a well-appointed interior that provides
a comfortable driving experience. Just imagine the looks you'll get
while behind the wheel of this beauty!
As a '46, this specimen represents the model at its long, roomy
best, with a substantial wheelbase, showstopping hood length and
plenty of graceful curvature throughout. At a time when the country
was in a post War slowdown, this Roadmaster was a member of a class
that proved almost singlehandedly that the American automotive
industry still had its skills fully intact when it came to
smile-inducing aesthetics. When you circle the car and get a better
view of its visual impact, it's actually a little hard to believe
that a car could roll off the assembly line with so much style
already intact, but this sedan does, in fact, come by way of its
stellar appearance with no aftermarket intervention, save for its
updated wheels - check out those fenders and the sideskirts in
back. The black shade it wears is a perfect understated choice for
the car and while it could use a bit of refinement to reach its
full potential, rest assured that there are few cars you'll
encounter anywhere that possess the sheer head-turning power that
this Buick does.
The interior is in great shape and still retains every bit of its
original vintage charm, with two rows of bench seating that are
covered with well-fitted, two tone tweed covers that are bracketed
by impressively clean matching door panels and an expanse of carpet
below that's also in prime condition. Take a look around and one of
the first things you're bound to notice is the sheer amount of
space that would be at your disposal. This is one seriously roomy
cabin - the amount of real estate between the bench seats combines
with the cabin's sheer breadth to provide couch-like comfort for
both you and your passengers. A beefy woodgrain steering wheel is
perched on the tilting column and the dash area offers an array of
factory issue gauges in keeping with the level of authenticity of
this classic. Just below, an added center console houses a CB
radio, as well as aftermarket air conditioning - and the latter
blows cold and strong enough to keep the considerable interior
space nice and comfortable.
This Buick offers a level of reassuring road readiness that's hard
to find in a car of this type, anchored by a 305 cubic inch V8
standing by below the lengthy hood that starts up easily and
provides plenty of cruising power. It's fed by a 4-barrel carb
that's covered by a chrome air cleaner and the engine pairs with a
4-speed automatic 700r4 transmission with an overdrive gear that
makes for easy highway motoring. For those situations involving
frequent stop and go driving, an electric fan has been added to the
mix for plenty of temperature control. Power steering makes for
easy maneuverability, while power brakes - with discs up front -
bring the set of 15" American Racing Torq Thrust wheels to
low-effort, fade resistant stops.

and yet offers an impressive level of reliability that'll make you
