Vehicle Description
A thorough and meticulous restoration has brought this 1954
Chevrolet 3100 5 Window to top form, while at the same time taking
care to leave an impressive level of originality intact. As this
classic truck pulls into its next lucky owner's garage, there will
be a substantial stack of maintenance receipts on board to document
the expense that's gone into keeping this classic in top form.
Whether cruising down the boulevard or pulling up to your reserved
spot at a local car show, this Chevy has a thoroughly well put
together appearance that everyone around will take notice of. It
wears a skillfully applied coat of high-end paint, mating dark and
light green to achieve a thoroughly appealing and convincingly
authentic look. Get a little closer and you'll appreciate the
quality of the hand painted pinstriping surrounding the cab - this
really is a stellar exterior and the workmanship that went into its
restoration, and the consistent sheltering and care this classic
has received afterwards, is obvious. During this Chevy's era, an
extensive display of exterior chrome was pretty much an aesthetic
must, and that styling cue is well-represented here - check out its
front grille as an example. An indication of just how detailed this
restoration was can be seen in the less sizable elements, as the
side mirrors, door handles and badging are all in consistently
clean condition. The collection of glass surrounding the cab is
crystal clear and rimmed with color-matched paint to tie into the
lower portion of the exterior - an outstanding finishing touch.
The black vinyl interior is the perfect complement to what's on
display outside and it's evident that plenty of attention went into
creating a clean and period correct driving environment. With only
a couple of exceptions - both of those coming in the interest of
enhanced comfort - everything inside the doors has been restored to
stock specifications, starting with the generously proportioned
steering wheel sitting on the column and the bench seat, which is
in top condition and ties in perfectly with the door panels to each
side. The dash features a pair of multi-functional factory-issue
displays that are surrounded by smooth green steel, while just
below an aftermarket underdash air conditioning system ensures that
you and your passengers stay nice and comfortable. It, along with a
vintage-look AM/FM stereo, are about the only deviations from stock
inside the cabin. The bed area in back has been finished nicely,
with dark planks lining the floor that blend well with the rest of
the exterior.
This classic's abundant curb appeal pairs with a reassuringly solid
running condition that puts it in rare company - especially as far
as cars of its era are concerned. The period correct 235 cubic inch
Thriftmaster 6 cylinder below the hood starts up promptly and pulls
with enthusiasm and it sits in a nicely detailed engine bay,
surrounded by cleanly painted inner walls and wearing its
factory-issue air cleaner over a 2 barrel carburetor on top. The
motor teams with a 4-speed manual transmission whose "granny gear"
taking its place at the top of the shift pattern reflects this
truck's purpose-oriented heritage. An MSD Blaster ignition is
accompanied by an HEI distributor to deliver maximum spark as this
evocative Chevy cruises on a set of 6.00-16 Baby Moon wheels with
Chevy branded hubcaps and wrapped with white tires that will take
you back in time with just one look.
The planning and work that went into making this 1954 Chevrolet
3100 5 Window such a stellar classic make for a great opportunity.
