Here's a new arrival to our inventory, one of a collection of MGs
purchased from a single long term owner. It is finished in the
attractive combination of British racing green with tan leather
interior. It is an older restoration but one that has seen little
use in recent years. Some attributes of note that enhance its
attractiveness include chrome wire wheels and a very nice burl wood
dash. The dash is a not a cheap overlay but a wood replacement for
the original stamped steel dash. The body is very solid and free of
rust issues. The paint is shiny and smooth although there are some
flaws that can be seen in the driver side door when viewed at a
close up angle. Our experienced paint shop will remedy this as part
of the sale price. The chrome and bright work is very nice. It
doesn't exhibit any pitting or scratches and contrasts brilliantly
against the dark paint. The interior is to a high standard. The
leather seats are will pass the most critical exam. The carpets are
in very good order (although not particularly clean at time of
photos). The odometer indicates just over 1900 miles but this is
not the actual mileage. We believe either the actual mileage is
101,900 or as is often done, the odometer was reset to zero at the
time of restoration. We're unsure which is the case but except
where genuine low mileage can be fully documented, we believe
condition always trumps mileage in a 60 year old car. Mechanically,
it's hard to fault. The 1600 engine starts and runs well.
Temperature stays right around the 170 range even on hot days. Oil
pressure is above spec even at a warm idle. There's no smoke or bad
noises. This is such a nice car overall that for its
recommissioning, we determined to not leave any area as
substandard. We were not happy with the downshift from third to
second so the drivetrain was removed and the gearbox overhauled.
All three synchronizers were replaced and a new layshaft and
layshaft bearings were fitted. The box was otherwise thoroughly
inspected and reassembled with new seals and gaskets, and a new
gearbox mount. It shifts smoothly up and down and is ready for
enjoyable touring. To insure a great driving experience, we also
rebuilt the front suspension with new urethane bushings and new
upper and lower king pin pivot bushings. All hydraulic items were
attended to. It has new brake and clutch master cylinder, new rear
brake cylinders, new front disc brake calipers, new brake hoses,
and new brake pads and shoes. Essentially, what will often cost of
a significant sum on a run of the mill used MGA has been done to
this car. It's very much ready for the next owner's enjoyment. For
