the Land Cruiser is known worldwide for its ruggedness and
durability. This particular Land Cruiser is really one of the true
unicorns for the Cruiser world. A factory left hand drive HJ61 Land
Cruiser with the desirable 12-HT Turbo Diesle Inline Six that
produces 315 pounds of torque! The mighty 12-HT trucks were only
made for a few years and are globally coveted, especially in left
hand drive and showing low mileage. This Land Cruiser was
originally sold in Europe, then imported to Costa Rica. This
31-year-old example was professionally restored in February 2019
using OEM parts and is an outstanding example of the HJ61 that is
now offered for sale in the United States by Motoexotica Classic
Cars. Finished in Alpine White (code 045), this SUV?s paint and
trim are in overall excellent condition, including the OEM
side-stripe graphics. This Toyota has the optional rear defroster
and rear windshield wiper/washer combination in back. The bodywork
is straight, the engine bay is extremely tidy and comes with two
Bosch batteries, which look like they?re in good order. Up front is
an OEM winch. Out back, the cargo area is in very good order and
the chrome bumpers. The Land Cruiser rolls on new Maxxis Razrmet VG
light truck tires, size 33x10.50R15LT at every corner. Each tire is
wrapped around an OEM Toyota chrome wheels and there?s a new
Ironman foam cell suspension. Under the hood is a matching-numbers
4.0L OHV turbodiesel straight six-cylinder engine with direct
injection (code 12-HT) and a new OEM replica exhaust system.
Backing this motor is a five-speed manual transmission (code H55F)
and a three-speed transfer case. In back is a 4.11:1 rear end and
between them is a two-speed transfer case with a low-gear ratio of
2.295 and a high-gear ratio of 1.000. The factory engine produces
134HP and 315 pounds of torque. Driver convenience features include
dual air-conditioning, power steering, power disc/drum brakes,
power locks and power windows. Inside, the new beige/brown interior
is in overall very good order. The seats have cloth seating
surfaces with vinyl bolsters. The front buckets and rear bench look
great. Between the front seats is an OEM refrigerator or cooler
box. The complementary new brown carpet is in similar very good
order while the neutral headliner shows some very minor blemishes.
A two-spoke brown steering wheel is in good, original order while
the instrument panel with passenger grab bar, and full gauges and
two-toned inner door liners are all in very good condition. The
original factory AM/FM stereo with a cassette deck rounds out the
interior but the power antenna is inoperable. The Land Cruiser 60
series was produced from 1980 through 1990 for most markets but the
Cumana Plant in Venezuela continued production until 1992 for their
local market. It is a front engine, four door wagon which can seat
five to eight people. Like all of the Land Cruiser generations, it
is well known in the off-road world for its off-road abilities but
was somewhat limited by its awkward departure angles. Documentation
includes original owner?s manual and tools. Competition to this
Toyota in 1988 included Chevrolet?s S-10 Blazer, GMC?s S-15 Jimmy,
Ford?s Bronco II, Jeep?s Cherokee XJ, Mitsubishi?s Montero and
Nissan?s Pathfinder. If you?ve ever wanted a Toyota Land Cruiser
that is factory equipped with the mighty 12-HT turbo diesel and
left hand drive then now is your chance! Toyotas were sturdy,
reliable vehicles when new and as a classic, they are still
dependable and robust. In today?s SUV-crazed world, you would
really stand out in this classic, even if you?re the only one who
knows why the truck is unique. VIN: JT1W0HJ6100952887 This truck is
