Vehicle Description
This 1997 Ford F150 Lariat 4x4 pickup has passed beyond the realm
of "nice work truck" and is steadily on course to become a great
collectable. Featuring a ton of options, a great color combination,
and incredibly low miles, it's only a matter of time before these
'90s trucks start bringing big bucks. Here's your chance to own a
rare low-mileage, low-ownership one now.
The black paint job on this F150 should look familiar if you were a
car guy in the '90s, but it's also one of the more timeless looks
that came out during that period, and marked the beginning of the
radically streamlined body for the 10th generation F-series
pickups. Accented by the silver bottom section, factory pinstripes,
and just enough chrome trim to look upscale, the shiny black finish
gives the half-ton a sporty look that's kind of an homage to the
great pickups of the past. The paint looks very good and has been
well-maintained, suggesting that this truck has never worked hard
in its life and has lived an easy life in the sun. The Lariat trim
package added a bit of flash to the truck, and all of it remains in
very good to excellent condition, from the wheel well moldings to
the big chrome bumpers to the badges all around. You'll notice that
inside that killer Flareside bed is a factory drop-in bedliner, so
it's still up to working weekends along the way.
Inside is Ford's upscale XLT Lariat interior, which features gray
leather upholstery and practically untouched components everywhere
you look. It's 100% original, and even the split-bench seat shows
practically zero wear, further proof of those insanely low miles.
There's a pair of carpeted floor mats protecting the original
carpets so they're still in great shape showing only modest wear
and age, and the door panels remain quite good as well. Even the
buttons, switches, and handles look new. With all the heavy-duty
equipment on this truck, it was obviously outfitted to do some
towing, so there's a complete array of gauges in the dash, plus
cold factory A/C, cruise control, a tilt steering column, power
windows and locks, and a 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission.
Even the original AM/FM/CD changer stereo system remains in place
and sounds great today. Looking for a time capsule? Well, here it
is.
Ford's venerable Triton 5.4 liter V8 is under the hood was the
first ever overhead-camshaft engine to be installed in a full-size
pickup truck, and it's a great choice in the F150. It neatly
straddles the line between power and economy, and makes great
bucket-loads of torque while it goes about its business. Even
Ford's trucks were fuel injected early on, and the long-runner
intake manifold on this one was designed to make low-end torque,
which is, of course, a truck's bread-and-butter. Showing only 6,496
original miles, it's 100% stock under the hood, with signs of
regular maintenance and more proof that this truck lived in a warm
climate, and the engine runs beautifully. It also features heavy
duty coolers for all the fluids, a massive radiator, electronic
4x4, and the aforementioned 4-speed automatic overdrive gearbox to
make the most of its output. The original exhaust system uses a
chambered muffler to keep the Triton sounding suitably muscular and
for a 4x4 it's shockingly clean underneath and still sits at the
stock ride height. 265/70/17 Toyo radials are fitted to the
original wheels, which also feature bright chrome center caps.
Documented with the original manuals and window stickers, this
low-mileage truck is just waiting patiently for its opportunity to
join your collection. These F-150s are starting to skyrocket in
popularity, now is your chance to snag a beautiful low-mileage
