Beautiful Jaguar with a small block Chevy that looks fantastic and
drives just as well. It has an Edelbrock intake and carb so is
probably good for about 180bhp. This is one of the last SWB cars
and was also the swansong of Sir William Lyons. It drives really
well and at 50mph in OD it is turning at 1200rpm. An engineer
friend told me to leave it in direct top unless I was on the
freeway to cut down on unnecessary down shifts. Good advice. Unlike
many conversions all the original gauges have been converted to
work with the current set up so there are no ugly add on
aftermarket gauges. Previous owner told me that the rear end was
completely rebuilt at a cost of several thousand dollars. It
certainly looks and runs like it was. New battery and rear tires.
The AC blows and the fan kicks in but it does not blow cold enough.
Compressor looks newish though. It also has something called
Bluetooth, whatever that is... The interior is gorgeous except for
the rear pillar headliner is scruffy, but it comes with some extra
material to fix it. Electric windows work very smoothly. The paint
is a quite rare Bermuda Blue which suits the car well. For some
reason it comes with a salvage title and none of the last 2 owners
knew why. Probably stolen/recovered or a minor fender bender
causing it to be totaled when it was of little value. This is an
excellent car that I would not hesitate to drive across country.
