Vehicle Description
1936 Chevrolet Master Deluxe
The 1936 Chevrolet Standard and Master DeLuxe enabled Chevy to
reclaim first place from Ford during 1936. Sales were up nearly 70
percent over the 1935 Chevys. Unlike in 1935, the 1936 Chevrolet
Standard and Master DeLuxe now used the same 79-horsepower
six-cylinder engine; that meant an increase of five horsepower for
the Standard, and a decrease of one for the DeLuxe
For consignment we offer up the 2-door coupe in the form of the
Master Deluxe. This car is in average condition, with some TLC
needed in the paint department, chrome re-plating department, and
possibly some creative input on the interior department. An older
restoration still showing some spark with a nice restored engine,
and interesting interior, as well as color combo.
Exterior
Bathed in Coffee ice cream tan, the older respray is showing some
cracks, crazing, and minor rust underneath. Chrome needs attention
particularly on the headlight areas that have sustained damage as
to denting. Remainder of chrome is rusted and pitted. Red wheels
are all around, and this car has 2 taillights and turn signals in
front. A red metal sprayed, and chrome trimmed spare tire cover
sits neatly into the rear bumper, and still allows access to the
rumble seat. Opening this and we are met with dark brown faux
alligator skinned upholstered bench seat.
Interior
Swinging the doors, and we see cherry veneered plywood as the door
panels. This also has been used throughout as a covering on various
parts of the interior. It presents in a natural color with no
stains. A custom bench seat with the framing of it covered in the
faux alligator, and the cushions in a striped cloth. Dash is
original and maintains its luster. Nice carpet in dark tan covers
the floors, and broadcloth in wool makes up the B pillar and
headliner trim. Noted is a new windshield which is in the split
style, and it has new weatherstripping.
Drivetrain
Based on a totally rewired 6-volt system, a restored 206.8ci inline
6-cylinder engine is within the bay. As noted, it is very clean and
rust free. A 1-barrel carburetor is on top, and a 3-speed manual
transmission is on back, which pushes power back to a 4.11
rear.
Undercarriage
An overall rust-free environment has undergone a restoration at
some point as well. There is no presence of rust and all underneath
seems structurally sound. Independent knee action front suspension
and leaf spring rear suspension can be seen under here as well.
Also noted are mechanical drum brakes, and a glass pack style
exhaust.
Drive-Ability
A quick starter, smooth idler, and nice driver. All mechanicals
appear sound, and engine runs as smooth as it looks!
The beneficiary of at least one restoration and looking much like
the beginnings of number 2 going on. With a clean undercarriage,
restored engine, but exterior paint and chrome needing attention,
I'm led to believe they just did not complete round 2. Either way,
you are the beneficiary of this mechanically sound and cosmetically
in need of TLC car all for the right price, and all here at Classic
