This Rolls was ordered and Built for Mr. Arthur Rubloff who was a
Colossus of Real Estate Development; The man who reshaped Chicago.
This car was chauffer driven when he would travel to Paris over
several years to visit fine art galleries. In the mid-70's the car
was sent to the U.S. Arthur Rubloff was once ranked by Forbes
magazine as one of the nation's top five developers and one of the
richest men of his time. He began making real estate investments in
Chicago in 1919. He opened his business, Arthur Rubloff & Co., in
1930.
Among projects he was involved in were One Magnificent Mile, a
glittering retail and residential complex on Michigan Avenue; Carl
Sandburg Village, a self-contained network of high-rise apartment
buildings, and continuing redevelopment projects north of Chicago's
downtown Loop.
In 1984, Mr. Rubloff became the Chicago Art Institute's biggest
single contributor when he donated $6 million and 130 bronze
statues valued at millions of dollars.
He also contributed $5 million to Northwestern University for a new
library and $5 million to the University of Chicago hospital
complex for an intensive care unit.
He was a collector of fine art and Rolls Royce's among other
interests. He was a man of great vision and style. This is your
