Vehicle Description
After receiving some restorative attention a while back, this 1986
Chevrolet K-10 looks as if it's been transported directly from its
native mid-'80s to the present to take on whatever challenges you
might throw its way. This is a great looking truck - rugged and
brimming with classic style - and it features a thoroughly
refreshed interior to go along with 4-wheel drive agility that
makes it right at home during those times you choose to veer off
the asphalt.
The clean white paint draped over its exterior received a
freshening up a while back and has held up well - its color is
consistent from front to back and a detailing session at the hands
of a pro will bring it to maximum shine in short order. Many a
Chevy truck rolled off the assembly dressed in this very color, so
it provides a thoroughly authentic appearance and in every other
respect, this '86 seems an awful lot like it did when it first went
into service. It wears its unabashedly square form proudly - this
is one rugged looking pickup. Up front, the trademark rectangular
grille looks nearly new, with no pitting in sight and the quartet
of lights at its corners nice and clear. The overall exterior
alignment on this classic is in good order - tight, even gaps
surround the doors and hood and the cab blends nicely with the bed
area in back. Its tastefully elevated stance strikes a good
balance, creating additional wheel clearance to take full advantage
of the K-10s off-roading abilities while not taking things too far
for everyday driving.
The red vinyl interior beyond the doors has been thoroughly
refreshed while maintaining a stock appearance, so this is a
driving environment you'll enjoy being surrounded by, whether your
schedule calls for open road adventures or just heading to the work
site. The bench seat at its center looks like it did when this
truck began its service, with no marked signs of wear over its
vinyl surface and plenty of padding underneath to make even the
longest of road trips comfortable. Below, fresh carpet lines the
door, while above, the painted roof that sits in place of the
customary headliner is a cool visual touch. Beyond the stock
steering wheel, the array of factory gauges in the instrument
cluster still perform their duties without issue and the dash area
spanning the width of the cabin is in good form. The featured
shortbed configuration emphasizes the K-10's appealing stoutness
and the area in back has been well protected by spray in liner.
Plenty of eager power comes via the vital 5.0 liter V8 now on board
beneath the hood. The powerplant offers just the right appearance
to go along with its vitality, dressed in a pair of blemish free
chrome valve covers and matching chrome air cleaner above its
4-barrel carb and sporting a properly painted orange block. It's
surrounded by fresh hoses and exhales into a pair of aftermarket
headers leading out to a dual exhaust as it pairs with a 3-speed
automatic transmission that shifts flawlessly. When the urge to
venture onto more rugged terrain hits you, this Chevy's 4-wheel
drive agility is easily unleashed via a lever on the transmission
tunnel and it's sporting plenty of wheel clearance to make it a
force to contend with in that setting. Power steering and power
brakes provide the road manners you're looking for in everyday
driving as this clean, able-bodied pickup rolls on its set of 15"
steel wheels outfitted with BF Goodrich All Terrain tires.
