Styleside Pickup more than fits the bill, with its two-tone paint,
new chrome wheels, bedliner and custom interior. The best part is
the 292 V8 sounds amazing exiting the rear of this Ford pickup!
Made in February 1964 at Ford?s Claycomo assembly plant northeast
of Kansas City, Missouri, (VIN code K), this truck left the
assembly line with Ford?s 292 CID Y-block V-8 (VIN code C) and a
column-mounted three-speed manual transmission which has now been
converted to the floor. It was then shipped to the New Orleans,
Louisiana sales territory (code 64). Finished in a glowing black
metallic over silver metallic, the truck?s paint and trim are in
overall excellent order, with only minor blemishes, if any, visible
at close range. The body is straight and sold, the front bumper
matches the gray portion of the paint and there?s no rear bumper.
The engine bay is extremely tidy and the battery appears new. The
cargo bed sports a new spray-in bedliner and includes the inner
tailgate and bedwalls. This truck has a 114-inch wheelbase and a
5,000 gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR). This truck rolls on
radials, size 255/35ZR20 in front and 275/35ZR20 in rear. Each tire
is mounted to an 20" American Racing five-spoke chrome wheel. The
wheels are in excellent order while the tires are in very good
condition, with good tread depth. Under the hood is Ford?s 292 CID
Y-block V-8 engine with solid valve lifters. Backing this motor is
a standard-duty three-speed manual transmission (code A) with a
3.89:1 rear end (code 12). Inside, the black bench seat looks
fantastic, complete with embroidered Ford logo. The matching carpet
is in similar condition, as is the velour headliner. A three-spoke
aftermarket steering wheel faces the driver and the standard
instrument panel has been retrofitted with a full array of Auto
Meter gauges but the temperature gauge and horn are inoperable. The
dashboard and inner door liners are in excellent condition while a
Hurst floor-mounted shifter looks great on the hump in the floor. A
Sony AM/FM stereo with remote control plus four speakers complete
the interior. Ford introduced a dramatically new style of pickup in
1961 with the fourth-generation F-Series. Longer and lower than its
predecessors, these trucks had increased dimensions and new engine
and gearbox choices. The 1963?64 models have the turn signals in
the grill. From 1964 onward, the flare over the rear wheel arch was
extended out to the taillights, rather than flowing over the wheel
opening. Competition to this F-100 in 1964 included Chevrolet?s C10
Fleetside, Dodge?s D100 Sweptline, and GMC?s 1000 Wideside trucks.
