Vehicle Description
It's no rebadged version of a lesser specimen. This 1967 Chevrolet
Camaro RS/SS is the real deal and comes by its increasingly rare,
dual designation status honestly, with no aftermarket intervention
needed. It features a thoroughly authentic appearance, with an
exterior dressed with signature striping and factory-issue add-ons
to denote its special standing and it harbors strong running power
with some nice upgrades under its hood.
First generation Camaros were relatively late-arriving participants
in the muscle car wars of the '60s, but with their low stances and
wide tracks accompanying the tried and true long hood/short deck
lid model, their impact was both immediate and substantial. The
Butternut Yellow paint this Chevy is now cloaked in was a coveted
selection on the factory color chart during its era, so the
factory-correct look it conveys is no accident. Encircled in black,
the front grille is in good shape and harbors the signature hidden
headlights that were cause alone for many a buyer to spring for the
Rally Sport package all those decades ago, while we generally
associate the front air dam just below and rear spoiler perched on
the deck with the model's Super Sport configuration. Tight, even
gaps surround the doors, hood and deck lid - an indication that the
body alignment on this vintage Chevy is nice and precise - and the
chrome and body on display present consistently well.
Take a glance inside and you'll see a black vinyl interior that's
in good order. The front buckets were refurbished a while back, so
you won't find any marked traces of wear on their surfaces and the
bench seat in back is clean and unmarred. Everything is ready to go
inside these doors - the headliner and door panels are still in
good condition, as is the dash area, which features an instrument
panel's worth of factory gauges that still function as intended and
are joined by a trio of aftermarket displays at the front of the
center console and a tach perched on the steering column. An
aftermarket AM/FM/CD stereo takes the place of the original at the
center of the dash and the shifter just below it sits within easy
reach, beckoning you to grab ahold and get out on the asphalt. From
appearances, it seems one of those often overlooked steps has been
taken care of here, as fresh rubber seals surround both the deck
lid and doors to keep the elements from intruding.
Underneath the hood, a 355 cubic inch V8 resides between the shock
towers, dressed with a pair of chrome valve covers and a chrome air
cleaner. It's been armed with an Edelbrock 4-barrel carb and a
polished intake manifold and now wears a pair of Pro Comp aluminum
heads to maximize its abilities, as well as an electronic ignition
for more dependable all-weather performance and easier starts. The
engine is running strong and sends a nice, deep note into the
aftermarket headers leading to its dual exhausts and pairs with a
4-speed manual transmission to provide the hands on experience a
spirited muscle car like this one deserves. Power steering makes
this iconic classic easy to maneuver while power brakes that
position discs up front, as well as a new master cylinder, equip it
with all the stopping ability you'll need. A set of 15" Rally-style
wheels wrapped with BF Goodrich T/A radials provides just the right
finishing touch.
