Vehicle Description
1963 Ford Thunderbird Coupe
The Jet age is in full swing, the country is riding high on Beatle
mania, towering beehive hair doo's, fur boots, and getting to the
moon before the end of the decade. Unfortunately, we were riding
low on the assassination of President Kennedy, Russia launching the
first woman into space, and racial equality concerns. To mirror
these times Ford Motor Company put elements of design into the
Thunderbird for 1963.
For consignment a barn find car that comes with lots of parts and
is in need of some TLC. I cannot say for sure if all the parts are
there, but what I can say is it needs some of your love!
Exterior
Bathed in red exterior appears overall good, with some body work
being finished off prior to the red respray. Chrome is good with
slight pitting and missing from the rear window surround which has
some invasive rust. Uncapped steel wheels are all around.
Interior
Again, with the TLC as it is loaded with parts, and seats appear
decent with minimal wear, door panels are missing, and floors need
some redux on the pan edges as they are rusted out. There is no
carpet, and the original headliner hangs above.
Drivetrain
An unrestored 390ci V8 with a single 4-barrel carburetor on top,
and a 3-speed Dual Range Automatic transmission is on back with a
Ford 9-inch 3.00 rear. Noted the back wheels are frozen, and the
engine just clicks with a full charge on the battery, it will not
turn over nor start.
Like life being a box of chocolates, so goes this barn find which
has some work done on the exterior slabs and chrome, however the
inner workings will need a redux to get everything working again. A
frozen rear, no start, project car is awaiting your capable hands
to help it out. Dream on, dream until your dreams come true for
this Mid-Century iconic T bird from the jet age.
