Vehicle Description
In the aftermath of World War II, the country's economy was
beginning to gather steam, people were moving from the cities to
the suburbs and cars like this 1950 Ford Club Coupe were getting
America's workforce to their jobs in style. A timeless appearance
combines with well-chosen modifications inside, outside and beneath
the hood to make this a standout ride.
The refined exterior this Coupe rolled off the assembly line with
was already stare-worthy to begin with - during the War, there
wasn't much advancement on the automotive design front, so it's as
if all the pent-up inspiration threatening to burst out of Ford's
design department was put into play during the years immediately
following. Compare the smooth appearance of this '50 with its
counterparts of just a half-decade before and the differences are
startling, with the formerly protruding fenders and hood giving way
to a more integrated overall appearance. There's some great
customization work on display here and it really makes an impact -
the shaved door handles allow the well-fitted exterior and
distinctive paint to take center stage, while the bumper-deleted
rear end with the chrome tailpipes peeking out below creates a one
of a kind appearance. The Twilight Blue metallic color draped over
the exterior is in good shape, still in full possession of a sleek
shine and its accenting chrome presents nicely as well.
Take a look inside and you'll notice right away that a lot of work
went into transforming the interior, resulting in a collection of
modern conveniences taking their place alongside a customized
foundation. The two tone blue and cream buckets at its center are
not only very comfortable and still in great shape, but they also
offer power adjustability to attain just the right driving position
and they tie in perfectly with the door panels to each side.
Farther forward, there's even more to like, with a chrome 3-spoke
steering wheel mounted on the column and a clean dash area just
beyond it that features the model's unique single display
instrument panel, which pairs with a trio of aftermarket ProSource
gauges just below the vents for aftermarket air conditioning that's
in top form - this system cools the cabin in no time. In back, the
trunk area is nicely finished, with color matched fabric covering
the inner walls and floor and a space-saving spare on hand
inside.
Mechanically speaking, the theme of this classic is all about
dependable power and functionality to navigate modern day driving
with ease. A 283 cubic inch V8 now occupies the orderly and well
maintained engine compartment, dressed in a host of chrome
components that include its serpentine belt system, air cleaner and
valve covers and surrounded by fresh hoses and properly routed
wiring. It's fed by an Edelbrock 4-barrel carb perched on an
aftermarket intake manifold that provides far more dependability
and efficiency than its original counterpart, as does the smooth
shifting 3-speed automatic TH350 transmission now in place behind
the engine. The added Mustang II front end carries a load of
benefits to refine the driving experience of this appealing
classic, including power rack and pinion steering, front coilovers
and front disc brakes to provide all the stopping power you'll need
during common driving situations as this tastefully modified
vintage Ford turns heads on its set of American Racing Torq Thrust
wheels - 15" in front and 17" in back.
With its unique combination of evocative vintage appeal and modern
appointments, this 1950 Ford Club Coupe would be the perfect match
for the classic car enthusiast who puts a high premium on
drivability. Call today!
