For Sale: 1963 Chevrolet Corvair in Elyria, Ohio

So let's start by saying that there is no cooler Corvair than a Spyder convertible 4- speed. Sure glad that's what we have here. Purchased locally from a great friend of ours he brought this one in from California, did a bunch of mechanical work to it and then decided that a 4-speed wasn't really what he and the wife needed. We were very happy to write him a check and even more glad to offer it up for sale.

The pictures are a very accurate representation of this car. This Spyder is an older repaint that is showing its age a bit, or as all the experts call it now, patina. The paint is certainly serviceable and cruise worthy, but has it share of bruises and imperfections. I'd drive this cars wheels off and never be embarrassed by it. The really good news is that this is one of the most solid metal Corvairs I have ever seen. Don't know if it lived its whole life in California but the floors and trunk are very, very good.

Mechanically our friend did a lot- some of it was recently done when he bought the car and some of it he did himself. Here is a list of the things I remember- New Turbo, complete brakes- that is COMPLETE- lines, master, shoes, backing plates, all of it. He totally rebuilt the shifter with new bushings, it performs flawlessly. Pushrod tubes have been resealed and other gaskets renewed. There is more this is all I can remember at this point. I guess what I'm trying to say is hop in it, fire it up and drive it with confidence.

The interior and chrome are nice, in mostly good condition but again showing a bit of age and use. The convertible top is very nice, free of rips or tears and the back window is clear. There is a convertible top boot that dresses the car up when the top is down (the ONLY way this Spyder should be driven).

Drive it, show it, keep it in a bubble and polish it as a prized possession, the choice is yours once you make it yours.
