BusinessOne year ONLY production with the exclusive LT4 engineGrand
Sport package only available with 6 speed manualAfter a model run
of over a decade production of the C4 Corvette finally came to an
end in '96. Not wanting to let this occasion pass without some
commemoration the folks a Chevy decided that two special C4's were
in order! The first being the Collector Edition which came with a
Sebring Silver Metallic exterior and a choice of a Black Gray or
Red interior. What set this model apart besides the color were
chrome "C.E." badges 5-spoke ZR-1 style wheels Black brake calipers
with Corvette lettering and Sport seats with "Collector Edition"
embroidered on the headrests. But not wanting to be outdone there
was one more very special Corvette to be introduced this year . .
.When Corvette aficionados hear the phrase "Grand Sport" it congers
up images of Corvette's racing glory days when the original Grand
Sport racer was brought out to compete with Shelby's Cobra and
everything Ferrari threw at it back in '63!The '96 Grand Sport was
a street Corvette with racing "bones". The heart of the beast was
the new one year only LT4 engine. Essentially a "hot rodded"
version of the excellent LT1 used from '92-'96. The LT4 was
(conservatively) rated at 330hp. It had higher compression a new
aluminum head design Crane roller rocker arms revised camshaft
profile and some various other tweaks. The engine was only
available with a 6-spd. manual transmission thus all Grand Sports
were manual transmission cars. The exterior was painted Admiral
Blue with twin "hash marks" in Red on the right front fender.
Interiors were available in Black or Red. The Grans Sport was
available in either Coupe or Convertible but what further set the
Coupe apart was its rear fenders! The fenders had small "lips" to
cover the enormous rear rubber (P315/35 ZR17) and huge 1711
wheels! The Convertible Grand Sports used slightly smaller 285/40's
in the rear. They were truly limited editions with only 1000 total
built between Coupe and Convertible..This beautifull example came
to us from a CA. collector. This one has been driven only 10455
miles since new and it's in show condition throughout! It's also a
Triple Crown Award winner!! That means the car has been awarded an
N.C.R.S. Top Flight Bloomington Gold and Chevy Vettefest Gold
Spinner Award! It comes with the awards original Owner's Kit
