This 1958 Chevrolet Viking is truly a wonderful old truck. It is a
great cross between something that is an iconic classic, and
something that is still very usable today. It is all original,
hasn't been rat rodded, etc. with a original 261 engine (not 216).
Has rear tires that are nearly new (a few years old but very little
wear) and good front tires. It features an all steel dump box,
built at significant expense 3 years ago, with hydraulic PTO driven
cylinders that work excellent. This viking is exceptionally
straight overall, with just a little rust in cab corners and
quarters, as shown in pics. Floors and everything else are rock
solid. One of the best things this truck has, is a patina that
takes 60 years to produce, it would require very little body work
for a new paint job if new owner preferred a more polished look.
Mechanically, this truck seems to be in very good condition. Please
keep in mind that it has been a year or two since it was used on a
regular basis. So it will need the typical things for an old
vehicle that has sat for a while. Here is a quick rundown. Truck
starts and runs great, maybe a touch cold blooded, as it likes to
run with a little choke. The gauges work, and it carries good oil
pressure. Has a 2 speed differential, that seems to work fine, and
has power brakes. Previous owner told current owner he rebuilt rear
wheel cylinders about 3 years ago, and brakes worked fine, now you
have to add fluid occasionally and pump them up or bleed them, It
may need a master cylinder. The manual transmission shifts through
all 4 gears just fine. Most of the lights work, a couple don't.
Basically, you will probably need to spend a day or two sorting out
a few items before you make this your parade truck, or landscaping
wagon. Owner has a clear Kansas title with this truck. Please Note
